People are such jerks.

Ughhh I hate these comments! I get them all the time, so it made my day yesterday when I was at a cousin's birthday party and got the opposite. I was talking to my cousin's step-mom and said something about L not being an only child come October, and she looked confused for a brief moment before looking at my stomach and exclaiming, "Oh my goodness, I didn't even realize until I looked carefully! You look amazing!"

Then she had to go and ruin it by adding, "And are you having a girl this time? Having one of each is so nice!"

I got that a lot during my first pregnancy. I anticipate getting it a lot this time too. It's definitely a stupid thing for people to say, but people tend to say a lot of stupid things, so I try to not get too offended.

@lilteacherbee: I would not have rolled my eyes hard enough at that comment.

People say the stupidest things. So sorry you have to deal with them.

@stargal: she should have known better! I got asked that by a dad in our birth class. The teacher chewed him out.

@cmomma17: Someone told me that my hips were spreading too!! I thought it was so bizarre. Like how did they notice that?? It was a man too, one of my coworkers. I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately, some people have no boundaries.

@namaste: Yep, the same person told me I wasn't allowed to lift my arms above my head or the umbilical cord would wrap around the baby's neck. Pretty much just rolled my eyes at her for 9 months straight

Yeah people are dumb. I'm only 21 weeks and people have told me I'm huge or said I'm so much bigger than last time. Her thanks!

Hips and spreading should not be in the same sentence in casual conversation, IMO, but hey.....

People are the worst with this stuff.

I was like...6 months pregnant when I started having people say "jeez, must be getting close!"...

I wonder how many people would go up to someone who ISN'T pregnant and say..."woah, you're huge, can I rub your belly?" LOL.

People just shock me sometimes!

I finally got my first peanut gallery comment over the weekend, which I am going to take as a "compliment"-- my uncle saw me for the first time pregnant at almost 8 months and said "wow, by the pictures we saw in the beginning we thought you would be totally bottom heavy by now!" Gee, thanks?

a friend said that when i was about 8 months pregnant, and it kinda rubbed me the wrong way but i know she meant it as "wow you are really pregnant!". but for those comments about hips spreading, you look like you're having twins, that kind of thing--it's too much and inappropriate. what is wrong with people.

You look huge is the pregnant equivalent of saying you look tired... just plain rude and unnecessary. I know a lot of women feel incredibly beautiful when they are pregnant, but a lot of people don't. As a person in the later camp, please don't point out my whale ass.
