Hi all! So baby girl #4 is baking away.. and apparently when I say baking, I mean BAKING!
She's measuring about 8 or 9 days ahead, and doctors have her currently and consistently at about the 85th %ile.
Did anyone else have large babies? Would love to hear your stories!

I didn’t have any growth ultrasounds to know what he was like at 34w, but my son was born at 9 lb 13 oz and 22” - he looked like a one month old. But he was perfectly healthy and I had him vaginally and it was fast and furious! He stayed in the high 90s percentiles for length for a long time (but 50s for weight) so I guess it was just meant to be vs something “wrong”. And he was born on his due date so it didn’t make him early but it did make him really good at nursing when he was born - less sleepy than the others and really hungry.

DS was born at 37 weeks and weighed 7lbs 8oz - pretty big for 3 weeks early. My obgyn had pushed a little for me to consider an early induction or c section after ultrasounds probably around 34 weeks because she thought he was huge. Luckily(?) I went into labor early on my own. DD was 8lb 9oz and born at 39 weeks. I remember freaking out after an ultrasound at 36 weeks because they thought she might be 10lbs if I went to my due date. I called a friend and was like, I don't want to destroy my vagina 
She was born vaginally with no issues.

DS was a full pound less than they estimated him at a day before I went into labor - just to say, it can be really hard to get an accurate measurement at this point when they are all scrunched up in there!

@periwinklebee: Yup! I think I remember hearing that it could be plus or minus a pound either way. That's why I pushed back on a scheduled c-section for my son. For DD, I tried to focus on the lower number, but I kept thinking - what if DD is actually a pound *bigger* than they are estimating!?

My second baby was supposed to be small, but ended up being much bigger than expected. She was 8lbs 9 oz - about a pound heavier than my first. My first was a traumatic birth and I was strongly advised to have a c section with my second. But I had way less problems delivering my second than I did my first despite her being a bigger baby. All in all, the bigger the baby the better once they are here. So good for you, mama, for growing a big one!

My second baby was measuring huge at that point, well above 90th percentile. I was induced at 39 weeks for his size, and he was 8 lb 7 oz, so big, but not unusually so. It was an easy delivery.
My third was also measuring big. I was induced at 39 weeks again, mostly for AMA and because I previously had a smooth induction, but baby's size was a factor. He ended up being a very average 7 lb 6 oz.

I wouldn't worry too much. They way overestimated the size of both of my kids.
My midwife was very nervous about the size of DD1 at 40 weeks; she weighed 6lb 4oz at birth at 41 weeks. My OB for DD2 kept saying, "this one isn't going to be a 6lb baby! This one is huge!" She weighed 7lb 2oz at birth. I just don't think the tools they have for measuring size are very accurate!

I had a growth scan with my first at 37 weeks. They estimated her to be 7.5lbs then. She was born totally fine at 41+2 and she was 6lbs 10oz - way less than the 9+ lbs they said she was on track to be and a pound less than they said 3+ weeks earlier. She was long and skinny with a good sized noggin 98/99th percentile (like everyone seems to be).

I love hearing these stories! It seems to be head and belly measuring consistently bigger that throw the measurements. I definitely grow squishy ones... be interesting to see what this one turns out to be!!

DS1 was born at 38 weeks and was 9lbs 5oz. I had him vaginally. DS2 was born 36weeks 6 days and was 8lbs 3oz. I had a csection with him. I can’t imagine how big he would have been if he cooked longer. I wouldn’t mind if baby #3 is smaller but at 16 weeks only time will tell.

My son was 8lb8oz, born 3 days before due date. 3 years later, he's still 95%ile head, length and weight. My daughter born 2 days after due date.was 9lb3oz. At 6 months, she's still 95% head and length, but just dropped ro 75% weight at 17lb9oz. First was cs, second elected cs.

my sister was measuring way ahead with her fourth baby, but she ended up being average size! She delivered right on her due date.

My twins measured way ahead- they were estimating 8-9 pound babies if I went full term, which is giant for twins. DS was almost 8 pounds when they were induced at 38w4d, but DD was 5lbs3oz.
