@sloaneandpuffy: My MIL reminds me every time my unmedicated birth plan comes up "You know you don't get a trophy for that, right?" so DH said he's going to give me one in the delivery room. lol.

@Honeybee: that sounds like what I might have said, but truth be told, I don't remember. I do know that we had just finished discussing gorilla births.
It might have been something about dark hair actually, because we would have used a different name if she was a red-head.

i honestly do not remember what i said. it felt very surreal to have this screaming baby placed on my chest.

@Mrs. Jacks: I didn't know you had another name picked out! Good thing she had dark hair; I love her name!

@Honeybee: yup, it's a name I wouldn't have used unless I had a red head and given my coloring we thought that would be unlikely... But there are red heads in my family!

oh man - i have no idea what I said.... love reading these though...

I asked my husband 'is she okay??' and then I think I kept saying ' I can't believe it!' haha.

I made the comment "wow that was easy!" - since I only had to push once. Then when she was on my chest I kept repeating "hi!" and then a few minutes later "what do I do now?"

I was proud I made it through what was the most painful day of my life, so I said, "I did it! I can't believe I did it!"

I don't remember. I think it may have been "Hi baby." and I remember telling DH to go with him while they finished up on my csection. The epidural made me a little loopy.

Birth #1: "Can I have him?" And instantly sat up and grabbed him out of the midwife's hands before she even had a chance to respond or move or anything, lol.
Birth #2: I think it was something along the lines of, "Hi, Baby! Hey, Sweetie!"

I love reading these! I remember that moment so vividly. When she was lifted out & up I said, "oh my gosh!" And when she was placed on me I said, "Hi baby! You're so beautiful. Happy birthday!" Followed by lots of sobbing.

For me it was "oh my God!" And then when they put her on my chest it was "Hi, I'm your mom."

I didn't say anything, I was so out of it. They handed her to me, and my only thought was 'huh, squishy'. Then they immediately took her from me while the code team ran in, and I just sort of zoned out while making sure that my husband was on it.

I didn't get to hold him right away due to my c section and the first thing I remember is asking "what are his apgar scores"

Oh gosh this thread is making me tear up for some reason!! Love reading these. I wonder what will come out my mouth... guess I'll find out in 3ish months!

I think it was something like 'is she okay?' or 'she's out?' as I had a c-section and couldn't see her. When they took her over to the table I asked if she was okay, what she looked like and whether she had any hair...

The NICU had set up in my room because DS's heart rate was so low. He was sunny side up and stuck so I had just received a 3rd degree laterial cut followed by the vacuum. He was taken as soon as he came out and I rember saying "he isn't crying!" He was fine and cried after less than a minute of oxygen/rubbing but it seemed like FOREVER!

With DD I said "she looks just like her sister" (my step daughter).
With the twins I can't remember the first thing, but I know shortly after DS1 was born I said "I dont get any drugs for this one either do I". The doctors got quite a laugh out of that. Then when DS2 was born I kept saying "WHATS WRONG" because he had a very difficult breech birth and was not breathing.

"WHAT IS IT?!?!?" We were team green and I was dying to know if it was a girl or boy! DH was so flustered he had to be prompted by the midwife to lift the umbilical cord from between her legs (LO was on my belly) to see what she was.

I thought I heard a little cry and I asked "Is that her!??!" because I wasn't sure if I heard right.
Then she cried more and the rest is kind of a blur.

She looked absolutely shocked, blue eyes so wide- she did not have a clue what had just happened to her! I looked at those wild blue eyes and said "Oh my God! We love you so much!!!!" And then I realized she wasn't crying so that was the next thing I said...She was just too stunned and she piped up a minute later...
