My husband will be away during the Christmas holiday - he'll be gone for 2 weeks. It's for a good reason but I'm not happy about it at all. I want to whine and complain but nothing I say or do can change his going.
LO is 15 months old and I feel so sentimental about creating family memories.
Anyway, how long was the longest stretch of time that your SO left you alone with your baby?

The longest p went away was 10 days. Lo was 6 months old or so. The next longest he's been away is a week.
Sorry your hubs is going away during the holidays!

He went to Korea for work for over 2 weeks last year. That was a rough one but we made it through.

So far he has never been away from us, he nearly had to go away for a week on a business trip when LO was 4 months old but it got postponed thank goodness

mr bee went on two business trips that were a couple of days. that was when we just had charlie though. don't know how i could survive with both kids! i'd make my mom come visit!

Wow. That's really rough. Especially with it being over the holidays. Little One isn't even here yet and I've already put a ban on all solo travel by the hubs for at least a year (he doesn't have to travel work so any trips would have been personal).

I don't have a baby but my husband has been gone 10 days already and won't be back for another 7:(. It's so freaking hard. I know it's for work and he is making money for us but it doesn't make it easier. Do you have family nearby you can celebrate the holidays with? And make sure to Skype!

Wow that's hard. Longest DH was away was for a week, but he did that for 7 months straight starting from when DD was 1 yr. but he always came back on the weekend. We had a lot of arguments about it and I was very resentful. DH did not react well to that. I had to learn how to have a conversation about his work in a constructive way and we finally got on the same page about his travel. You'll be ok, lean on whatever support you have available!

The longest was six days. That was when my youngest was 6 months old. The twins were three and the oldest was three and a half. It's definetly no fun. I come from a military family and have often had members of my family gone during the holidays. What they usually did was celebrate before they left or when they came back. At 15 months she won't know what day it is. You can have your family Christmas on a different day. Then have something special for you and little one on the 25th.

Awww...that IS tough. Will you be with other family for the holidays at least? If not, I would probably travel with LO to be with some family for the holidays.

So far? 2 weeks. He's missing C's first Christmas because he couldn't get the time off work to fly home with us so we'll be apart for 5 weeks. He's getting deployed for 8 months next Spring and may very well miss next Christmas too. He has at least 2 2 week trips before his deployment.

Aww man...that sucks! It's okay to not be happy about it. Hopefully you can make the best out of the situation!
The longest was 1 week when he went away for a conference (with a guys camping trip tacked on afterward) but that's when i was with my parents.
I'm leaving SO for 2.5 weeks in Jan when i go back home, and i know he's not thrilled but feels like it's important for the grandparents to see her when they can.

That's really hard. My husband had to go away when our baby was 10 weeks old for about 2 weeks. Fortunately I have family nearby so I just moved out of our house and went to stay with them.
Can you fully celebrate the holidays before or after he goes? I know it's not ideal but if you completely pretend that it's Christmas Eve/Christmas you can get some sweet pics with the tree, opening presents and having a special meal and it might help you get through the time he's away. Fortunately you're little one isn't old enough yet to know the date!

Aw man...that's tough. My husband never travels so he's never been away from the kids. I'd be ok with him leaving for a few days though. He'll just have to make it up to you!!!

Such a bummer! So far DH has only been gone for 3 days and that was a challenge!
Also, I was so pissed when DH called in for an overnight shift last night....he wasn't even on call! He thought I was acting nuts and unfair...the hospital needed him and what can he do? I guess I was sick and grumpy and over reacted?

Aww that sucks DH hasn't had to leave since LO was born, but since he works for a new company all of the sudden, this is the very thing I'm scared about. He no longer has his team so he can't send someone else! Since he's technically working with the same project, when they need someone, he HAS to go. If that happens this winter, I'll need HB for support!

I'm still pregnant but my husband goes away for a week a month every month. I am definitely worried about how I am going to handle him being gone so often once the baby comes.

I'd be so bummed. I can't imagine him not being here over the holidays. My husband never goes away, though! Sometimes (secretly) I wish he would... Hahaha. Probably not now that the lo is here, though. Sorry, @rubies.

Awh, sorry @rubies L and i are actually leaving DH for two weeks the day before thanksgiving due to a family situation...we are both pretty bummed since its L's first thanksgiving but have no choice

@Rubies: That would be really rough over Christmas, I would be upset too. DH is leaving for two weeks after Thanksgiving and again for 2 weeks in January. I'm going to need my MIL's help to pick up E from daycare and I'm so not looking forward to doing all the overnight duty on my own.
