He went out of town for business for a week when DS was 3 weeks old and again at 8 weeks. By that point I had it down enough where it was okay...but the first two trips were tough.

When M was 3 months he went on a work trip for two nights. She and I stayed at my parents house. He has another one coming up in Feb and I think we may do the same thing. I like the company.

Dh went on a work trip (to Puerto Rico for 4 nights 5 days) when DS was 4 months old. Needless to say I was very jealous. His work trip was more like a meet and greet for the higher ups and parties every night. Sigh. That was the first and the longest.

dh has an annual camping trip with his best friend around their bdays... he was gone 2.5 days in october, ds was 10.5 months!

He traveled a ton this year. Probably an average of 2 trips a month for 3 days at a time. LO was over 12 months at that point though so not that bad for me. The longest trip was 6 days when LO was 25 months and he was home for 2 days and back on the plane...that was the toughest for me.

Hubs was gone for work for about 2 weeks this past summer when LO was 18 mo. I ended up flying to my mom's for the whole time because it would have been a lot to handle alone. I also work at home in the summers. He regularly leaves for 2-3 days for work and that started when LO was 6-8 weeks maybe. A few days is fine ... He often works late so many days I do all the child care alone but it's still nice to have someone to talk to even later! I have crazy respect for single moms.
Of course I only have one now see what I say once we have two ...

He was out of state for a work conference for 9 days when are was...9ish months old? It was over Easter, and most of his family was in town at my ILs and I spent a few days there. Unfortunately, a nephew was sick and got me, MIL and FIL sick. I was trying to limit E's exposure so I brought him home, but was then solo-parenting him while really sick myself. No bueno!

He drove out to the coast the day before LO and I flew out, but that's it. I took LO with me on a business trip, if that counts.

DH hasn't gone away by himself since DS was born (currently 15 months old). DS and I left a day early for a weekend away once and spent the night away from DH- that's the only time we haven't all been together (other than my hospital stay with DD).

We both went on a week long trip when dd was five months old, a one night hotel stay when she was seven(ish) months (it was a gift!), and on a two or three (?) night trip when she was about nine months. The first one went well because we planned it for when dd didn't have object permanence/separation anxiety. The last one we paid for! Dh hasn't gone out of town on his own but he will be soon because he will be applying for a job out of town and he has to make several trips. He also works nights right now..he's at work now!

Military training for two weeks when E was 10 weeks old. I considered myself lucky-my friend's husband was deployed after their kid's birth!

He was just gone two weeks in December for residency interviews and will be out of the country the entire month of February. LO is 2 now but it is still a lot. I am so glad to have supportive friends around and have so much respect for single moms!

My DH goes to California for a week a month every month. In a March, he has his week-long business trip plus an annual week-long "man vacation" so he will be gone for 2 weeks.

He's left for a few sessions of work training that are 2 weeks each. Once when E was 6 months, once when he was 10 months, and just last month when E was 18 months. My MIL usually comes to help get E off to daycare in the morning, which is usually DHs job. So our day to day routine isn't interrupted too much.

Oh man, DH travels 80-90% for work. He left for 3 days when LO was 3 weeks and a week when LO was 5 weeks. He's been back to traveling pretty regularly (usually M-F) but has a 10 day trip coming up at the end of the month (LO will be 2.5-3 months).
