My pediatrician told me at dd's 9 month visit that we would get a lab slip for blood work at her 12 month appt. they're checking iron and lead.

She said that they do the arm draw because heel/finger can indicate levels higher than there really are, in which case they'd have to do an arm draw anyway.

Um - I am having an anxiety attack! I can barely handle her shots.

Did you have to deal with this? Tips? I don't recall having any blood work as a child, really - definitely not at ages 1, 2, 3 and 5!
