Is this crazy? Have any of you gone on a long drive with a 7 month old? We want to drive out of state to see a family member during the upcoming holidays next month. If you have done such a long drive any tips will be appreciated

We've taken trips with our LO as long as 10hrs. Most recently at 5mos we went 6hrs to our ILs, stopped a couple nights then 5hrs to my family's. On our way back we just stopped a few hrs @ our ILs then continued on home.
I move between the back and front as she's awake/asleep (with our suv luckily I can do this without stopping) I always have her in a sleeper so she's comfy and warm enough if her blanket moved or something. I kept a bunch of different toys on hand to change it up if she got bored. I brought my pump, bottles and a jar of solids to feed her as we drove. The solids were a really welcome distraction for her. I'd change her when we stopped for gas etc. At one point when she was freaking out I just ended up playing back videos from my phone to her... nothing else would work and it distracted her enough. On a separate trip while she was freaking out and we were stuck in traffic I literally just shoved my boob in the seat. Super uncomfortable for me, but it calmed her.
I'm sure 7 mos is busier, but I think you can do it! haha at least I hope you can because we'll basically have trips like this every month from here on out until we can move!

We are doing a 12 hour trip to visit my family over Christmas and my LO will also be 7 months old. I am so worried about it already! We think we are going to try and leave around 6:30 or so (LO's usual bedtime) and drive as far as we can before staying the night and then continuing the rest of the trip the next day.

@LAGS: Hahaha thanks for that, the boob shoving part made me laugh. Thats great advice about dressing her in a sleeper etc..
@meredithNYC: Yes we want to do the majority of our drive at night too so we hope she will sleep through most of it!

Wow 12 hours is a loooong time! We're doin a 4 hour drive over the holidays and I am a bit nervous because it will be after our 5.5 hour flight! Subscribing

We did a 6 hour drive in August and it was not pleasant! She cried a lot in her convertible car seat and toys didn't distract her at all. We might need to make a road trip in November and we are definitely dreading it!

Oh boy. I don't know. I'm wondering the same thing since we're taking our 4.5 month old on a (normally) 8 hour drive in November. Last time I took her on a (normally) 2.5hr drive, it was miserable.
We're planning on taking toys, bottles, my pump, blankets, pacis and yes, even though we said no screen time until 2, we're putting some videos on my tablet just in case. The uncontrollable screaming is what worries me most. When you can't calm them down but they won't stop screaming and you can't stop the car and then they get all hysterical.
