Starting to think about what to get M for her first.
How much did you spend on gifts for LO's first and what did you get?
For sure we're getting her a wood personalized name puzzle stool. We have given one to every niece and nephew for their first!

I got lo a personalized happy birthday captain zoom cd. I had it when I was little (the tape) and still insist on listening to it every year because I love it so much.
I think it was $20-$25. She didn't understand gifts yet so I didn't want to go crazy.

@artbee: LOVE! We had this when we were little too, although on a crappy plastic record, not even a tape
I bought an MP3 of it for my nephew when he was born, and I call him every year and play it in the background because I don't trust my sister to remember to play it for him.

@artbee: Ha, I love that! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves Captain Zoom. None of my friends have any idea what I'm talking about if I mention it...

We're planning on getting her a Pewi Ybike ride on toy for her first birthday. Several of my friends have said their kids loved them around that age.

Both my boys got the 4-in-1 bikes for their first birthdays. DS2 got a radio flyer rocking/bouncing pony, but it doesn't seem to be as big of a hit as I thought it would be.
I HATE plastic toys, but we got two for Christmas that have kinda changed my life--Fisher Price laugh & Learn Counting Piggy, and the LeapFrog My Discovery House. DS2 is 14 months old, and will literally spend an hour playing with these two toys. Although the sounds can be incredibly obnoxious, you can turn them off and still have fun with the toys. They both run about $20 each. I especially love them because they work on developing pincer grasp, sorting techniques, and we can work on colors and counting. Also, DS1, who is 3, absolutely loves them too! A great investment if I do say so myself!

@Mrsbells: @zippylef: m got one for Christmas. It's from Ikea and has a little house roof, totally cute. No sorting yet, just a lot of smashing!
