Xander's in the top 20! Though I knew he had a common/popular name, haha.

@Smurfette: R's actually higher on the list than I would've thought! I didn't know she'd be in the top 100!

@Adira: Last year it was in the 80's, so it has moved up!

These names are fantastic. Choosing a name must be soo hard since the Top 100 really contain great names.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I know. We aren't ready for #2, but all the boy names we list are in the top 50. Bummer.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
For our baby #2, if it's a boy, it'll be another top 20 name. But our girl name is lower on the list (80s).

Ooh Cs name isn't in the top 100. I'm not terribly concerned with top 100 though- I just wanted to avoid top ten or so. Dh and I both had really popular names for our birth year and didn't want her to have to be Susie H in class or whatever. Her name was around 130 on the ssa list I think (but was too ten in the late 1800s!)

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: We managed to pick a name that is barely in the top 1,000 for the last 20 years or so . . . and it's not a weirdo name or a weird spelling (those don't count for me . . . spelling variations are just that, variations of the same name). Don't get me wrong, I adore some of the popular names, but the name we fell in love with just happened to not be so popular.

Holy moly... Both my kids' names are not in the top 100. And they're pretty common, old fashioned names. My second name choices for both are not either, but third choice for both are there!

@MsLipGloss: I have always been super curious what your LO's name is! I know what letter it starts with. Will you indulge me on my wall too?
watermelon / 14206 posts
DS and LO's names are right next to each other. But, they're not uncommon names.
I'm not worried about ranking...I actually don't know another kid DS's age with the same name, even though it was top 10 the year he was born. I tried to stay of lists, but I like what I like!
S isn't on the list. I guess I'm better at girl names, lol
ETA: All three middle names are high on the lists, too, lol.

@Dandelion: I agree! If I was in love with a name I wouldn't not use it because of its popularity ranking.

I don't see my LOs name on the list. Which is funny, since our neighbors son, about my sons age, is named B too.
nectarine / 2878 posts
I didn't realize my son's name is in the top 30, bummer. I think it fits him well though, so no biggie!
@MsLipGloss: Curiosity might kill this cat! Me too pleaseee

@Dandelion: Funny enough, when I was little, I hated that I was the only K. I wanted to have a popular name and disliked that no one could spell my name. People still can't spell my name.

@MsLipGloss: Haha your LO's name is THE hot topic this morning! I have a guess since I know her nickname.. Gonna wall you my two guesses because the way they are related is funny..
Just saw that the lists are baby center's, meaning they gathered names from their site's users. I wonder when the social security list comes out!

@littlek: I have a common name and can name 3 others in my class off the top of my head. There's a lot of Bees with the name, too. I guess I'm just used to common names, lol.
I think you're right, though...if it's too rare, it can cause some confusion!

E's in the top 20 but I don't feel like it's super popular here.

LO is not in the top 100 but last week we met three of them so I think it might be more popular in our area?
honeydew / 7091 posts
DD's is a variation of #30 - we never even considered that spelling though
@Dandelion: I think we have the same name I've always had to go by first name_last name, or a nickname, because there are sooo many others!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@swurlygurl: My name IS a nick name, of a longer, also popular name...I hate to shorten it anymore. But I've always gone by "Nickname L." (now W, lol) whenever necessary, lol.

LO's name dropped a bit this year from last year. When we named him, it was #5.

@mrs. wagon: i saw that too, i don't think all of the names are going to line to with the SSA rankings.
i'm sad the girl name SO & i like is up there, i expected it would be though. not surprised the boy name isn't on there, hehe.

@Foodnerd81: I'm curious--what is C's name? I was thinking about this the other day... did you ever share it?
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@mrs. wagon: @mrs. bird: The SSA list won't be out until May. They post it in time for Mother's Day

The name we picked for our LO due in March is in the top 50 on baby center but is top 110 overall on other lists I've seen. But wee already knew when we picked it and I don't mind - I love the name!

E's isn't in the top 100 for girls, but both our boy names we have on our list are in the top 100. I think it's harder for boy names! Our other girl name isn't on the list.
coconut / 8681 posts
DS' barelyyyy made it onto the list! I'm not surprised because its one I've been hearing a lot lately...I have a feeling it'll keep on climbing. DD's isn't on it at all.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
We specifically picked names that were not on the Top 100...but Elliot is now #100. Oh well, he'll just have to be Elliot Last Initial in school.
