For me, I was pretty off plan from Xmas - Jan 15 but I’m back at it and hitting it hard! Had a good day yesterday and am planning on a good day today! I’d really like to lose these next 5lb and get closer to my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m basically doing lazy keto/low carb
ETA - I’m up 2.5lb from my lowest weight which I feel like isn’t terrible and should com off pretty easily. Besides the holidays every single person in my house and the stomach flu

I'm glad to see a restart of this, the last one was too long and overwhelming for me to jump in. I started at the beginning of Sept and I'm down 35lbs from then. I was stalled during the holidays and bounced around the same weight for a few weeks but since January I'm back on track. And down 4 pounds from the lowest I was pre holidays. I'm not on a set diet as I think the restricting and rules can be counter productive. I have started using My Fitness Pal to track calories but even more so to track my macros which is like a fun puzzle that can also be incredible annoying but it works
But really, my biggest change is exercise. In the previous thread I was surprised to see so much talk about diet changes and very little about exercise. I think that exercise will be the most important thing in keeping the weight off once I reach my goal. I go to the YMCA with my girlfriends for 5:15am classes every day during the week, and we vary our classes on the weekend. I usually work out something like 9 out of every 10 days. Exercise may slow the actual change on the scale since I'm building muscle, but it's making the way my body looks change significantly.
I'm 6.5 pounds away from the goal I set for our big trip to Disney which is the first week of March so that should be totally attainable. Then after that I want to lose another 5-10 pounds and I'll be done.

@Truth Bombs: Congratulations on your weight loss!! 6.5 lbs by March is totally doable!! Good luck!
I'm joining back in! I kind of fell off the bandwagon last time and instead of losing 5 lbs, I gained 5 lbs! Sooo... back to low-carbing! Although I already had a donut today, so.... back on plan as of this afternoon!

I definitely fell off the wagon during the holidays. I'm about 5 lbs up from my "happy weight" so I'm not trying to lose a ton and more focused on toning up.
I started 80 Day Obsession (Autumn Calabrese's new Beachbody program) on Monday. It's 40-60 mins of exercise per day and a very specific meal plan but it's going well so far! I'm hoping to get in really good shape before we're able to TTC again this summer.

@Truth Bombs: nice job! What are you aiming for macros? I’ve tracked macros before but like you said it can be tricky! I personally am focusing mostly on diet because I’ve always read diet is the best for weight loss and exercise is good for health and also building muscle and changing your shape and all that. I am trying to get in 10,000 steps a day though. I’d really love to be able to do classes every morning that sounds great!

@gotkimchi: haha, yeah, oops! The key is getting back on the bandwagon now that the holidays are over! Hopefully I can stick to it. I'd love to drop these 5 lbs in a month.
nectarine / 2018 posts
December wasn't great for me but I'm now two pounds down from where I was at the start of December so I'm back on track. I'm not following any specific diet - just trying to focus on healthy foods, good portion sizes, and the occasional pre planned treat. I do try to limit things like pasta and bread, mainly because I have no willpower once I start haha.
I have been setting mini goals instead of one final goal. In part because I am not sure how to determine a end goal. I'm two pounds away from my next one and then 5 pounds after that by May. So totally doable. Not sure what the plan will be after that. Probably just continue healthy eating and exercise to see where I end up.
@Truth Bombs: I so agree about exercise. DH and I started exercising together last April. The goal is 6 days a week and we almost always hit that. Our workouts range from 30-60 minutes. It has made a huge difference in the shape of my body. This is the first time in my adult life I have regularly exercised. I weigh the same as I did when we got engaged but my body is much smaller now. I know that long term maintenance will have to include regular exercise.

@gotkimchi: So I was doing 50% carbs 30% fat 20% protein which I THOUGHT My Fitness Pal had calculated for me. But now I’m realizing that’s actually the default setting, not something that was based on my stats. It’s been working for me, but I plan to do some research and see if I need to adjust a bit based on my goals.

@Truth Bombs: if you do come update I’m always so curious about what works for people, especially as they’re getting close to their goals

@gotkimchi: I too took it easy on myself during the Holidays. I jumped up a few more pounds than I would have liked but I am back and super committed now.
@Truth Bombs: damn lady, you are my inspiration. Well done!
@Adira: Tomorrow is always a new day! You got this.
AFM...I've lost 6ish lbs since Jan 1. I'm super happy. I wish I wasnt up 3-4 from my Dec 1 weight at that point but it is what it is.
I dont know what I'm eating aligns most closely with but no grains, no added sugar, no fruit and no dairy. I did this last year for January and it really set me up for some good lifestyle changes. I will gradually add back some dairy, and some healthy grains. I will also add fruit, but only certain ones on a regular basis. Not all, and no more than 1 serving a day. I'm focusing on lots of veggies, good fats and quality protein.
I just discovered I have a gym at my new office building, I joined today. I will start working out next week. I always find getting a handle of one first (eating or working out) is best for me - if I try to tackle both I often am setting myself up for failure.
I bought the BodyBoss program last fall and liked it a lot. I will be doing those workouts Sun/Tues/Thurs, then cardio at the gym Mon/Weds/Fri.
Good luck ladies!

Fell off the wagon over the Holidays/vacation. Luckily I basically just maintained which I was very happy with. Back to it now!
I use an app to count all of my calories. I weigh everything on a food scale and log every last bite.
I gained 60(!!!!!)lbs during my pregnancy. I'm only 5'1". The first 2 weeks I lost 20lbs from baby, fluid, etc. I've lost another 20 since October by counting calories. I have roughly 15-20 to go.
Let's do this Ladies!!!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
I stuck with my plan through the holidays. (I do keto with tracking on My Fitness Pal). I am in onederland as of last week and finally in the "overweight" BMI class, as opposed to "obese." I'm also a few ounces away from being down 30 pounds since October 1, 2017.
As of the first of the year, I adjusted my macros to 1500 calories a day, with 65% fats, 30% protein, and 5% carbs. Its been working really well for me and I'm seeing pretty steady losses.
I do small goals each month and one of them was to work out 3x a week. We got a treadmill for Christmas, so I've been doing Couch to 5K. I've stuck with it so far, which is great for me considering I haven't exercised in a really long time and this is the absolute busiest time of year for me at work (I've been at work until midnight 4-5 days in the last week, for instance). I drove home yesterday to have dinner with my family, ran while DH gave the kids baths and got them ready for bed, tucked every one in, and then ran out the door back to work! I also got some Jillian DVDs at Dollar Tree for $1 each so I figure I can add those in gradually on days I don't run. Once I'm a little more in shape, I think I'll try out the BodyBoss Method, too. I have some busy mom friends who are really happy with that.
I still have another 32 pounds to lose before I hit "healthy" BMI range, so I'll just keep plodding forward until I hit that goal!
persimmon / 1367 posts
Yay, I'm glad this is back! I'm doing ok, just struggling to stay motivated. After 6 months of hard work, I actually hit my goal weight just after Christmas...the same day I was put back on the medication that caused me to gain the weight in the first place. (its a well known and documented side effect)
I did a ton of research about how to gain as little as possible and finished the three week course of meds only up a few pounds. I'm not healthy enough to exercise yet, so I'm going to be focusing on counting calories (always effective for me) to try to get back to that goal weight soon and maybe even lose a few more.

I hadn't joined the previous thread, but I have started. Not doing anything crazy -- just tracking in MyFitnessPal and making better choices, and staying around 1400 calories/day. Switched to rooibos tea and water from my lattes and just being more mindful. Not adhering to any specific strategy. I'm going to rejoin the gym in mid-March (I know I won't go in the dark dreary weather of January/February, so I'm being realistic)!
ETA: I'd like to lose 30-40.

I'm joining in. I have 15 lbs to lose. I'd like to lose it by June or sooner. My baby is 12 weeks old tomorrow, and I haven't dropped much weight since giving birth. Ugh.
I am trying to watch calories and stick to 1500 per day. My supply isn't great and I don't want to sabotage it, but I want to move the scale a little faster. Only light exercise so far, hoping to ramp it up soon.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@gingerbebe: I really like the BodyBoss workout. I love the flexibility of where I can do it. I could truthfully probably do it in my office if I shut the door! If you ever want to see a few pages or anything I'd be happy to share!

@gotkimchi: thanks for starting this! I think I have briefly joined in on these once or twice.
I made a lot of progress in terms of overall health goals the second half of 2017 and then stalled in December. For me I think it was a combo of the holiday busyness, it being really dark and cold, and tweaking my ankle which made it easy to not run.
So I am trying to be on a no excuses plan for exercise and doing well so far. I got some running lights to cut out the dark issue and squeeze in HIIT the other days. For me what works is running with the dog 1.5-2 miles m/w/f, HIIT through an app T/Th, one exercise day and one rest day in the weekend.
For eating, I have been doing my fitness pal for a while but am focusing on being more intentional and smaller “treats” to manage. I had sort of plateaued on weight and just this week dropped below a big goal so I am feeling good and trying to keep the momentum going!

I am holding steady, and I have decided that I need to purge my house of the sweets that I inevitably eat at night. I do well during the day, but then I tend to lose it at night, so I have taken out my electric kettle and collection of herbal tea. I find that satisfies me just as well as a slice of cake.
The other thing I had to do was stop using weight watchers. They changed their points system again, and this time, they have a ton of foods that are zero points and reduced the over all number of points per day and I found it really difficult to even maintain my weight, so I switched over to counting calories and have a better idea of what I am actually eating.

@gotkimchi: I’m still here!!
As planned I definitely participated in ‘Cheatsmas’ and it was glorious. Christmas Eve I actually hit my ‘wedding weight’ goal and I was soooo happy. I think hitting that heloed me reign it in over the holidays, but I definitely indulged!
On January 2 I went back on Keto, then my daughters birthday was that weekend, so I jumped off again haha.
Then January 8 right back on, so proud. It was an ok week, also my first week back to work and had some family health issues so I was stressed. I gave myself another cheat meal (just meal, not day, which is new for me) last Friday. I went right back keto Saturday morning.
Yesterday I weighed in, I’m down 6lbs. That brings it down to 14lbs until I reach my new goal of ‘baby #2 weight’, which is exciting and terrifying!

I'm going to join again. I wasn't on the last thread (let's say I took a very long hiatus from eating well), but I was doing really well last spring and summer. Like @Mrs D: mentioned, I do better when I tackle one thing first, then incorporate the other thing once the first is in a good place. So this time, I am starting with the eating. I think next week, I'll start just watching my steps and getting to 10k, and then the week after, I'll add small exercise goals to the 10k steps and eating plan.
I'm back to doing paleo. Last spring, I started a Whole30 and it turned into a Whole50, and then I went to just paleo (which is more permissive on certain things). Then I added in some things, like alcohol sparingly. Did it all for 4 months and then fell off the wagon after summer was over and was off from Sept-Dec.
Just started back and we'll see how it goes. Last spring/summer I lost about 16 lbs, and I'm back up a few now. I'd like to lose 20 from this point.
I just shoot for about 1 lb a week, so I don't have to really deprive myself in the eating department. My birthday is end of May, so it'd be nice to be 20 down by then.

I fell off hard core but I'm back at it!!! The goal is to lose about 20 pounds or so by June! I've been eating well but getting bored quickly so I'll be off to the produce market tomorrow to get a bunch of goodies. I've been on pinterest looking up quick, easy but healthy recipes so I can get it together and not get bored. I've been working out as well. Hitting the treadmill every other day and increasing the time by two minutes each time. I need to make this happen. I'm disgusted with myself and that's not okay.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Anagram: Yes, agreed on addressing one thing at a time. When I do too many things, it all goes off the rails.
I have a few hours in the morning on Saturday now, and I've asked a friend to meet me and run. I think I will suggest that we do a couch to 5k style thing, where we do running and walking intervals. I just hope the weather cooperates!
My short term goal is to have a new middle number by the end of the month, so that means I would have to lose about 2.5 pounds, which is doable.

I was within 2-3 pounds of my goal weight (pre-wedding weight). That unforunately made me feel free to overindulge the last couple of weeks and I’ve been ticking upward.
I need someone to invite me to a wedding or something since I seem to have no discipline otherwise.

@Raspberry: ugh same boat. I did awesome this week and dropped over 2lbs.... then today I stuffed my face while we watched football and I missed my workout because our damn dog ran away and I had to go find him. But, I have to remind myself that one day is not the end of the world. I just got my macros calculated by a pro so tomorrow I’ll start that. And I have my sprint cycling class at 5:15 tomorrow. I have 5.5lbs to lose in 6 weeks. But I’m hoping to lose more like 10 in that time frame. We have a big vacation in 6 weeks and like you said, goals like that really help!
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@gotkimchi: the macros from the professional coach were 33% protein (125 grams) 29% fat (50 grams) and 38% carbs (145grams). For reference, I’m 156lbs, trying to lose 1.5-2lbs per week with a goal of 140lbs, and I do intense workouts daily. I think the number really vary person to person so don’t put too much stock in my numbers as a reference point.

@Truth Bombs: interesting! I had mine calculated awhile ago and they were Calories: 1600
Protein: 120g
Carbs: 145g
Fat: 60g
But I ended up mostly doing keto since I found tracking overwhelming. Do you eat a lot of similar things day to day and do you weigh everything? I was just having trouble making it work in my real life
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Okay, I'm back on track for real today!
Though I could really use some low carb breakfast ideas. I'm so sick of eggs...
nectarine / 2400 posts
@Adira: I’m back on today too! I usually have eggs or bacon or sometimes just coffee with heavy cream. Occasionally I’ll have a nut bar (like kind brand) it’s like 7 net carbs but I can fit it into my day and it helps if I need a hange or something “sweet”
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@gotkimchi: Oh, thanks for the tip about the nut bar! I've never tried one and didn't realize they weren't that many carbs. That might really help get me through the week. By the time Thursday rolls around, I'm usually so sick of eggs, it's hard to stick to my diet and not have a muffin or a bagel just to break it up!! I'll look for the Kind bars!
nectarine / 2400 posts
@Adira: yah just check the labels some are a lot lower then others!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Adira: What about non breakfast foods for breakfast? I too get really tired of eggs, so I'll make a piece of salmon with greens or a shredded chicken breast with bell peppers. The key is not too many spices for me too early in the morning, so it's just salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Truth Bombs: I am trying to get to the exact same place. I've been down as low as 141.7 (November 2016), but then I kind of backslid in my usual manner because I start adding in treats. The problem is my sweet tooth! No matter what I do, I can't shake it.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Adira: If you come up with other low carb ideas, throw them out there. I am always looking for new ideas.
I know you said low carb, but I really like steel cut oats. A serving for me is 1/4 cup dry oats cooked in water. If I remember, I add one tablespoon of almond butter, but mostly it's whatever fruit I have on hand.
Can you do a nut butter on an apple for breakfast? That's another one when I have "nothing" to eat.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@looch: once I get to my goal it’s my hope that I can add treats back in without an issue as long as I keep up the workout schedule. This morning I burned 525 calories, once I’m just trying to maintain my weight, I should be able to have treats as long as I’m burning them off!
