I'm sorry I feel it is perfectly nice and "expected" for the mom of the first born to have a baby shower. I'm a little appalled at how common it is becoming to have a 2nd baby shower or even worse imo to hide behind the term "sprinkle" to make it appear less selfish and gift grabby. what are your opinions on this?

I think 2nd baby showers are okay if it's been a few years since the couple's had a baby.
SIL's 2 girls are 4 years apart. Her best friend threw her a sprinkle.
I'd feel weird having a baby shower for baby #2. Especially since mine will only be 21 months apart and I have everything I need already. -
You don't have a shower for a second kid? Why not?
I'm not having a shower, but fully expect to have a party/baby naming event for ALL my babies after they are born. I don't see how it would be wrong to have a shower for every kid (but, again, having a shower is not my tradition, so what do I know?)

I don't see why it is such a horrid thing to celebrate 2nd children... I had a second shower but it isn't like I asked for it, I didn't even know about it until invites were being sent out. Unless someone is expecting a shower or asking for one I don't see how they are being greedy or gift graby

Never heard of it being unheard of to have a second shower! I think everyone I know at least had a small brunch with their girlfriends, especially if they were having a child of the opposite gender as their first.

In my circle it is not common to have a second shower. I do understand sometimes your friends plan something that is not at your request though. When I started to get annoyed is when they go full out and register for a second baby. That seems gift grabby to me.

I think I"m just gonna gather a few of my closest friends and just have a tea party at my house. Definitely not gonna register for anything though. If they bring a gift, then they do. But I'm not gonna expect them to. I just want to bring my friends together to celebrate the new baby joining our family.

I think their fine to have. I am planning on giving gifts for the second baby anyway, I wouldn't mind doing it at a shower. Plus, I think every baby is worth celebrating with your girlfriends!
