Any suggestions on how to deal with an 8 month old biting? DD has just started doing this. She's biting the edge of my shirts, she's also bitten my arm and DHs shoulder in the last couple of days.
Thoughts?

I feel like biting is an issue with older children, it's surprising me that we're having to deal with it now!?!?!

Do you think it may be teething related? LO will gum us, but he currently doesn't have any teeth and I'm chalking it up to him just trying to get something soft on his (non-existent) teeth.

LO started biting around then. It has always been teething related. She will bite several times in the day or two before a tooth pops through.

Following because we are also having this problem at 7 months. I don't think ours is intentional I-know-this-hurts-you biting but a mix of exploring with her mouth and also getting a reaction from us.
So far we have tried to calmly but sternly pull her away from what she is doing and say "No bite, that hurts" but I think it will be a while until that sinks in.

My son has been biting recently too. He's 12 months old, adjusted age 11 months old. I'm not sure why he is biting but it is very frustrating.

Ahhh... well @2PeasinaPod, @Weagle - funny you should say that. I noticed last night that she has tooth #5 cutting through at the top right. I guess that's what it is. She didn't do this when she cut #1&2 or #3&4, so it's throwing me for a loop.

@lindseykaye: I know, ours doesn't seem intentional either, but boy does it hurt!!!

DS is 9months and has been biting since he started getting teeth, it gets worse right before one pops through. He initially bit while nursing but I stopped that pretty quick, now he bits shoulders and likes to chew on clothing.

@purrpletulips: That's exactly what DD is doing. Luckily nursing has gotten better, but it had gotten pretty bad for a while.
