As always we throw around girl names for fun... a few random questions...
How do you say Clara? Like Clahhh-ra? or Claire-a? Do you hear the distinction between the two?
And do you know any Amelias? It said on the SSA site it's #30 on the most recently ranked year?!?! I've never met or seen one in my life so I was surprised!

I would say Clara like the first version. Very pretty name! Also, I've never met an Amelia IRL, but I've also never met babies with lots of the top "most popular" names.

I don't know any Amelias. It's a cute name though.
But since you're having a boy, I like Isaiah.

I know three Amelia's actually. I really like the name, but since I know so many I won't be using it. And I pronounce Clara as Claire-a. Both names are beautiful!

And I don't know which I say since I've never met a Clara in recent life and now overthink it! My grandma's caretaker was Clara but I don't remember what I said with her.

@KJfromNJ: check out this post for a list of names by popularity but it combines spelling. So all the Isabella, Izabella, Isabela are combined at #2.

I have an Amelia and a Hannah across the street from me. I love both. 
I adoooore the name Clara (Claire-a). I think Clara (Claaah-ra) sounds pretentious. Personal opinion!! Plus, I think i fyou named your daughter Clara and wanted it said Claaaahhh-ra, she would ALWAYS be correcting people.

@mediagirl: it's something that like is hard to even tell which you're saying I feel like it's so slight! I think if you went like British with it then it's like Tara vs Tahhhra... but I think people just naturally say Clara a little differently?

I don't say Clair-a or Clahh-ra (at least I think I don't). I say it like Lara but with a C in front of it which I think sounds differently than those two.
I've never heard anyone say Clair-a before! I've only heard it Clahhra with the ahh or Clara the way I pronounce it.
I know one Clara and one Amelia.

I know three Amelia's, which dissuaded me from using it as a name for our DD even though I've always loved that name. I didn't want to seem like I was favoring any one of them by using it! Not that they aren't great people but two of them are family so I didn't want to show favoritism.

@KJfromNJ: true! My husband is not pretentious at all and he says "Aunt" while I say "Ant". He comes from Boston, I come from Maryland/Ohio. We both think the other is wrong.
