I have gone to the dark side you guys! I am preferring a mei tei to my wraps!! I still wrap depending on the situation, but find that the mei tei is seeing more regular use. I NEVER thought I would say that. Ever. And Lorelei seems to prefer it as well. When she sees it she calls it her favorite and says she's happy in there. Anyone else recently strayed from a previous carrier of choice?

We're in an ergo rut, I hate to say. I think it doesn't hurt that we always have an ergo laying around, so that's just what I grab first.

@Mrs. Jacks: What's an ergo rut? Are ergos bad? That's the only thing we used..and it wasn't very long before dd had enough of that because she wanted to look around and explore. (We went through a period of her rejecting strollers, carseats, anything that impaired her mobility but especially being "worn.")

@Mrs. Twine: I'm a WAHM who makes ring slings. It's always been my preferred method, however we are using our wraps more than ever. It probably has to do with morning sickness and rather having him on my back than in a place he might get puked on

CONVERT ALL THE WRAPS!
I now have two wrap conversion half buckles (we prefer buckle waists over tie waists), a wrap conversion full buckle on the chopping block for DH to use with BabyDeux, a wrap conversion pod on the chopping block because I won a pod conversion spot, AND I got selected to be an onbu tester so we'll be getting awrap conversion onbu sometime in the future.

It's a Beetlebums. I had heard really good things about them and wanted something a little sturdier than the gira conversion. Just cause... you know

We still use the ergo, bit her legs are just too dang long for it. I have been eyeing a Tulatoddler because I am thinkong it's easy like the ergo.

@heartonastring: The swap will eat your LIFE. Ha ha. Do you have the wrap yet? Which did you get? Do you love it? Can you tell I am slightly rabid for all things baby-wearing? I would suggest trying a MT. I thought I didn't like them, but I had never used one that was a wrap conversion, and that seems to make a big difference. I am liking ones that have a tie waist; maybe so I don't feel quite as guilty because they are still *similar* to a wrap in many ways? But it is quick, supportive, pretty...
@redsmarties: I think it's fun to try what's out there. Groups like the babywearing swap can be a good way to try some different things. Local groups you can borrow from (or friends) are even better! What do you like best right now?
@pastemoo: Aw! What do you wrap with? I am still a HUGE wrap fan. We have a dyed starry night that Lorelei and I love right now wrap-wise.

@grizz: I luck out a little bit because my husband actually likes to wear the kids He's a really big guy so his go to is a ring sling, because they are the only thing that fits. He just doesn't understand why they are so expensive even though I've tried explaining. One of my friends just bought an UppyMama and when I explained the price, he told me he would divorce me if I ever even thought about it lol

This thread has me feeling like I have found my tribe! So fun having people to talk swap with. @heartonastring: I always thought the leopard looked too sophisticated for me. As you can see, I don't look very fancy or put together, well, ever. It's a fun print, and I like the purple.
@junebugmama: Mr. T will not. He is all about me doing it, and very much affectionate with the girls, but he just has no desire to BW. I'm a little jealous! I would love to try an Uppy, but I'm just not *that* dedicated I guess.
@grizz: That's awesome about the pie. You should totally do that! And this is the wrong post, but good on you for speaking out about the BM donation. You were very poised and articulate. One thing I wonder about the study is what they would find if they tested milk that mamas saved (froze or otherwise stored) for their own infant's consumption. Seems to me that the same would hold true for that milk, in which case the pooh-poohing and shaming should go more towards educating people on safe food-handling practices.

@Mrs. Twine: I volunteered mine for testing, and they declined saying there wasn't enough time before the story aired. That pediatrician who spoke really did a disservice to moms who might be open to banked milk or shared milk!

@googly-eyes: Well there would be a benefit if the child was in a carrier that had questionable positioning, like a Bjorn or some of the slings... but with good anatomic positioning, I wouldn't worry about switching up unless you were doing it for fun... which so many mamas do!

Thoughts from the experts on the Maya Wrap Ring Sling for someone who can't afford a nice wrap conversion right now?
We used the k'tan in the beginning (and loved it) and now we use an ergo (which we also love) and a gifted ring sling that we like but don't love. I'm looking at the Maya but I want to make sure it's good for baby first.

@Arden: I have two Maya slings, one with a padded shoulder, and one unpadded, and I really like them! I prefer the padded shoulder. I wear it for several hours every weekend.

And I thought the tail would make an excellent nursing cover. Not that I'm shy about nursing, but Vi is starting to get easily distracted so it might come in handy.

@Arden: I have that one in the Berries colorway, and the tail makes a perfect cover/baby distractor. It keeps C busy to be able to hold the tail and flap it up and down while he nurses. This is a size medium, so plenty of tail left!

@Mrs. Twine: Our littlest constantly yearned to be held. I think my husband started wearing because he realized his was missing out on a bond with him. I'm pregnant now and he keeps saying "this baby is mine. I'm going to wear it all day long" It's pretty funny. He also claims he's going to hold it while I breastfeed lol!

Mayas are under-rated in my personal opinion. But I don't like the padding.
@junebugmama: That is precious. Mr. T is one of those dads who really likes them as they start getting older and more interactive, so he is really close with Ellie and starting to get moreso with Lorelei now that she is interested in riding in the combine and can talk more.
