Just wondering when your toddler got easier to manage. It seems like when he turned one, he's become a fussy walking gladiator. We have the typical toddler tantrums and fussiness. He hates the changing table or when we try to change him. There was a week or two where things got easier, but now it's back to dramatic cries as I drop him off at daycare, when I buckled him into the carseat, etc.
LO is 15 months old. When does toddlerhood get easier?

Things started getting easier at around 18 months. We still have our ups and downs at 2.5 though.

I"m at 14 months...so this post makes me sad that it is not likely coming to and end anytime soon! Everything is so dramatic with my LO these days!!! If you tell her no she will scream for several minutes (that feels like hours) over the silliest things. Sigh...I feel your pain.

The most difficult time for us was between 13-24 months, so pretty much the entire second year. My son will be 3 in a few weeks, the game changer for him was actually going to daycare. He was like a new man.
He was bored, I was bored, etc. etc.

I actually thought life got easier when we got a toddler! DS was a difficult baby, but so far has been a pretty lovely, mostly easy-going toddler!

it was easier and easier past 13 months with charlie. i think 18 months they typically have a big language explosion and that's what I call the golden age.

18 months was when things started to improve. She was VERY challenging, whiney, and contrary from 10 month to 18 months!
It'll get easier, then harder, then easier again... it's tiring. lol

@looch: He's been in daycare since 3 months old. He's super social and not bored. Since becoming one, we've been scheduling activities or trips to the park to keep him active and happy. With the winter approaching, we're going to the Conservatory (yeah for soil pits) and Target. We'll change that up a bit as well.

@lamariniere: LO was colicky and tough as a newborn. It feels like ages ago and so different. We hit an awesome stride around 6 months in general with sleep training and routine. Then, he learned to crawl and walk. Walking changed everything.

My DS is just now getting easier - LOL - he is 5!
My DD has always been soo sooo sooo good and then all of a sudden at 2.5 she changed for the worse! Its been 4 months and she is still driving me bonkers!!! I am hoping I get some relief soon even if its just for a week =)
I read somewhere once that the half years are the suppose to be the worst (1.5, 2.5, 3.5 etc) and then once they hit whole years they get easier again -

@cascademom: I felt like, for us, walking changed everything for the better. He was a good walker by 13 months and I felt like he really had to think about what he was doing, where he was going, what his next goal was and how to attain it. I have a hunch it also tired him out and he finally became a sleeper!

I want to say it was around 20 months for us. Like you, from the time she turned a year old, she was just terrrrrrible. I honestly questioned what I got myself in to. Being able to talk has definitely helped a lot. But I noticed that she didn't do well with transitions, so we had to really make sure she had advanced notice if we were going to change what we were doing. (ie: Ok, in a couple min, we're going to stop playing with puzzles and go eat lunch)

@LuLu Mom: Yes! There's so much drama getting ready in the morning. It woke up DH a few times with screams of bloody murder to change him. I've had to comfort him as I change him. I don't think I can do changes with my Sesame Street playlist lately.
He's been good lately about giving me his paci when I ask for it. Today, he wanted it back and that didn't happen. Oh the drama. Then, tears as I ran outside quickly to turn on the car while he got to be around Daddy near bed. Then, tears and tears as I buckled him in. Tears as I dropped him off. I wanted a cocktail by the time I made it home at almost 8am this morning.

@cascademom: yeah, activities are key for us. I always say weekends are for family time and we don't want to be scheduled, but I find we all do better when we have something planned to do! it's just more difficult in the winter, when we can't be outside for long periods.

@looch: Activities have been key for us as well. When it was nicer out, we went to the park twice a day or walk around our neighborhood. I'm finding that we have to plan to get out at least once a day or so to combat boredom or crazy kid. With Thanksgiving, my parents remodeled their basement as a play area for grandkids. He'll be easily entertained there with a few trips out as well.
We're preparing for Christmas with the inlaws. Park trips are a must this time around. He won't be content to be pulled in a wagon around a backyard. He'll pull the wagon himself and get into everything else he can.

For us the difficulty started right around 17 or 18 months. I think around 2.5 years was when it started getting a lot easier. He is infinitely easier now.. Still has tantrums but we can always stop them at the first sign by talking. I love being with him now.. It was so difficult for a while (we didn't leave the house for like 6 weeks) but he is my buddy now. We talk about everything!
