Warning, just wanted to share some sap.

E let me rock him to sleep! He's 8.5 months old and it's the very first time I've ever rocked him to sleep without nursing. Before we moved him into his crib he always fell asleep on the boob and slept in our bed, but since we transitioned him he will pretty much only sleep in his crib or in the car. Usually he'll let me rock him for a minute or two and then start fussing and reaching for the crib.

So I really tried to savor last night. I stood and swayed and rocked him for nearly half an hour after he fell asleep. I didn't even pay much attention to how sore my arms were getting, I just kept thinking what if this is the only time I get to rock him in his sleep again? He's over twenty pounds, his knees hit my sides and his calves and feet were hanging off. He's so big.

There was part of me that really wished DH would train the camera on us (since he was waiting for me to come out to finish a TV show) so I could have that memory saved, but I was equally happy he didn't, because it was pretty much a perfect moment and it was all mine.

I finally set him down in the crib and told DH about it--he was jealous, so he took the next wake up so and HE was able to rock him to sleep (and this is HUGE for DH, since I can count on two hands the number of times he's slept on DH/in his arms). And later a miracle occurred--before bed DH told me that he wanted to take half the night wake-ups, because it's good for me to get more sleep, good for DH to spend more time with DS since he works so much, and great for DS. I compromised and told him he could take the first awake period of the day and do half or more on weekends. He works a physical job and I don't want him getting hurt because he's sleep deprived.
