@MrsMccarthy: We've decided to take it one at a time. We've always wanted to adopt too, and we're not sure how that will play into our number. I don't think I want to be pregnant more than three times (we'll see how this one goes), and I don't think we'll have more than 5 kids.

@dc yoga bee: aww your poor hubs. That's fought but I'm glad he is down with having two because I do think that's rare. My husband is a twin and he loves his twin sister but they are not close so I think that's also why I had to lobby for a sibling.
@Boopers: charting is a pain in the butt but it did hp me with my cycles before I had my son. I hope you get a BFP or AF soon so you can go forward. You might just be having a rare long annovulatory cycle. I've read that it's common to have me here and there for every woman.

@Weagle: wow 5 is a big number! I'm jealous. I love the idea of a big family. We really couldn't afford it though and without help I probably couldn't manage it anyway. So happy for you that you got your BFP this month! Yay!
coconut / 8498 posts
@MrsMccarthy: Well, we may not make it that far! We just set a max a few years ago. A lot of things would need to be perfect to get us to 5, I think.

Congrats to the 2 new mamas!!! Lots of sticky dust to you!!
I quickly read over the 2 pages from yesterday and today to catch up, it has been a busy couple of days.
The smile on my OPK showed up yesterday and today, but DH has been fighting a cold the last week so no SMEP for us. I tried to convince him last night, and he tried he really did, but it was a no go. Wont get any BD in tonight either so I am totally bummed. Bah humbug.
Guess moving on to the next month......
( I am starting to get discouraged. I really thought this would be easier, but I know I am just being hard on my self. This is only cycle 4. This is the first cycle we have not gotten BD in on time. I dont blame him at all, he tried to take one for the team, it just didnt..... work. )

Ugh POAS'd two days early from expected AF and got a BFN. Normally I don't get upset about it, but last night seemed to hit hard. I know that I still have time, but can't help but feel hopeless. Hope that the wait game will be over soon and I can either get my AF or actually see a BFP.

@MrsScottish: I'm sorry.
@Weagle: wow, 5..
@MrsMccarthy: most would be 3 but depends gender of next LO.

@Boopers: I'm in the same boat. Time for AF came and went and BFN. It's now cd41 and I'm still waiting, so frustrating! FX you don't have to wait that long!
honeydew / 7295 posts
@MrsScottish: aww I'm so sorry honey. Your poor hubby and poor you. I would feel totally sad if I didn't get a chance to try. 4 months isn't super long but it's also long enough to be frustrated and as many have said its your journey and you feel how you so no matter how short it's understandable to feel discouraged sometimes. I think most of us dream of it happening right away. It's stressful if it doesn't. Sending you a big hug and hoping that you have some really great plans to treat yourself until you can try again.
@Eko: hope you get your BFP! What a tease to be late but BFN

@MrsScottish: Maybe he will change his mind tonight? I'm sorry the timing hasn't worked out for you this month...
@Eko: I'm sorry hun
@Aria: I hope something happens for you soon. The waiting game is so frustrating!

@MrsScottish: I'm sorry! Month 4 was when I started feeling very discouraged also.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@MrsMccarthy: we are set on 2, with the option for 3. But if we couldn't get KU naturally this time, I doubt we'd do IVF (which we were preparing to do for #1). I'd rather use that money towards travel/retirement/college fund. Although we really want more than 1, I see the appeal in one child - our life could be so much more like it was before DD (especially in terms of travel). We have already done a lot with her, but it is getting harder as she gets older. Unfortunately, my husband is not super realistic about the travel limitations with kids. Last night he asked me when I thought a kid could hold his own on travel (I.e., go all day with walking, museums, etc.). He thought 4 was a good answer. I am thinking more like 10-12, and, honestly, I have trouble keeping up on "vacation." And, wow, that was a total tangent.
Still BFN over here. Starting to get discouraged. I bought tampons, wine, and FRERs last night.

@MrsScottish: I'm sorry. Ditto what little it said - month 4 hits hard. I think most women kind of have it in their minds that 3 months is normal. When you get past that, it's rough.

@septca: ((hugs)). If it makes you feel any better, we moved every two years, sometimes overseas with the military, and my mom had to tend to us by herself bc my dad was either deployed or in the field. The military got a lot of backlash about it in the 90s, so they don't do it like that now, but we moved 6x one year! She had an infant and a 6yr old, an my dad was in Korea. The school system held my brother back that year sadly, but she said you get through it. At least travel would be for something fun, and not living arrangements! I hope you get your bfp soon

@MrsScottish: I'm starting month 5 so i feel your pain. My husband wasn't sick but I had a 17 day cycle, so there was no chance in hell we were getting pregnant that month. So, it felt like a wasted month.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@septca: We would do IVF (if needed for this cycle) but I don't think we would for a 3rd child. My guess is if we need intervention for LO #2, I just won't go on BC and we will see what happens. We love to travel too. We went to Germany this past year. We are planning a Hawaii trip this year and France next year. Brennan did not go to Germany with us, my parents watched him. Not sure if he will go to France or not, my guess is yes, since I hate being away from him.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@dc yoga bee: and @littlek: Thanks, guys. We will absolutely continue to travel, my husband is just going to have to adapt to it looking a bit different. He already has to some extent, but he is the type who needs to be "in" a place to adapt to it, so it's a process. And travel is going to look less like India and more like Yellowstone or Hawaii for the next few years. A-okay with me!!
@ littlek: We took DD to Europe at 7.5 months. It was awesome!
nectarine / 2358 posts
@dc yoga bee: I was a military kid too! My mom is Korean so it was nice when we were stationed in Korea twice. Otherwise the moving can be pretty rough.
@septca: @littlek: I always think about the logistics of travel with a LO because DH and I finally have jobs that are in careers so we can afford to travel a little bit. We want to go on vacation this year, but I'm getting Lasik done next week (!) and we may have to use the money for that and student loans. *sigh*.
@MrsScottish: I'm sorry you're feeling discouraged I hate not getting the chance to BD, it's so frustrating.

Since there are no POAS ladies today let's have some questions!
When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I plan on buying a onesie from our alma mater (DH is obsessed) and give it to him all wrapped up in a cute package
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- I think it's feeling like I'm in a real partnership with my DH on a project that only he and I really know about. Yeah, some of our friends know we are trying, but only we really know the lengths we are going to and through.
What is something you are really into right now?
- I just tried coconut water by Nirvana (have had other brands in the past that I didn't like) and I am in LOVE. I've gone back to Whole Foods almost every day that I've been in Palm Beach to get another bottle! When I go back to Tampa I'm gonna have to journey to the Whole Foods downtown about 40 minutes away to stock up!

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- If it's soon (like while we're NTNP), I plan on just showing him the stick and acting surprised, like I haven't secretly been praying for it this whole time... haha
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- My favorite part is the POAS boards! I love the little community we have going on here and how we're all rooting for each other and cheering each other on. It makes it more fun!
What is something you are really into right now?
- I'm currently in the midst of planning Xander's robot-themed birthday party, so I'm obsessed with anything robot related! Just purchased some robot shaped crayons and now I'm looking at robot lollipops!

I'll play on the questions ...
If I get a darkening line someday I may put LO in her big sister tshirt and see if he notices. Unfortunately with past chemicals it's more a wait and see type thing, not pure excitement.
Favorite thing about ttc: hmm, well the re/treatment route is less fun but I do like someone else doing all the worrying about timing for me! And it was so amazing when we succeeded last time and went for ultrasounds for LO.
I am really into green smoothies now! Total convert. I've made them almost every morning so far this month.
And in good news I had my iui for January today! They put my beta as the 31st since I have a long LP but I will surely test earlier.

@Mrs.Panda: I had LASIK about 5 years ago and i LOVE it...no regrets! And I'm going to have to keep an eye out for that coconut water!
When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- we will likely test together ...but I may have to go purchase a "big sister" short for my LO to be wearing for our friends/family
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- the anticipation...but it's also the worst part.
What is something you are really into right now?
- counting calories on the myfitnesspal app. My husband and I are trying to lose a few pounds before our trip to NYC. The app has tons of food or you can create recipes or just scan the UPC code. It's like a game trying to stay under the daily calorie goal

@Mrs.Panda: I will do an alma mater on-site too since he is obsessed, and that's where we met! I also like that no one knows what we are up to except dh and I! I'm really into sleep right now! Yuck coconut water. My mom lived off coconut while pregnant with me setup even the smell makes me nauseas.
Also, TMI ALERT.....
I saw a tiny spot of either cm/vaginal discharge or blood when I went to restroom this morning. But! I'm wearing red panties sooooooo.......

@LITTLEK @MRSMCCARTHY @BUSHELANDAPECK: Thanks!!! I am feeling a little better and not so frustrated. Not counting myself out yet!

@Eko: fx for you! I tested early too and was so sad to see a BFN...but it's so hard waiting for AF

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together? - I have a "big brother" shirt for LO.. my guess is DH will be there when I test like last time.
Favorite thing about ttc: The idea of a positive BFP
What is something you are really into right now? Decorating my house.

@dc yoga bee: what dpo are you? have you tested "early and often"? LOL

AF FINALLY CAME! I'm so glad I'm not in limbo anymore and can move on to next month! I'm going to use digital OPKs for this next cycle so that I have a more definite O window.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@Boopers: yay! Hope the OPKs work for you! I'm going to look into getting OPKs if this cycle doesn't work
nectarine / 2148 posts
@sandy: It is sooo challenging, I should've known better than to test early! I thought I wouldn't feel so bad if I saw a BFN knowing that I was still a little early, but nope! Next few days are going to be loooonnng.

Morning, Bees.
Last night was bad. So bad that I'm pretty tired and upset this morning. I should have realized this was coming, DH and I have always had a cruddy sexy life. And partly it was my fault, DH didn't really know how baby making works. He had no idea that the egg is only viable for 12-24 hours. I know I shouldn't stress. :: deep breath :: And should be more like @MrsScottish: and look forward to next cycle. But with odds stacked against us- I just am really upset that we have to miss cycles because DH doesn't feel like DTD. Or even begin to look into the cause of why he never wants to DTD. Our RE wants him to get blood work, but we didn't last year because he didn't have insurance. I would be absolutely stunned if he did have low testosterone.
I know that I should meet people where they are...but...Lord, give me the strength.
@MrsMccarthy: HOOoooray! I'm so glad that your first TI went well! That's wonderful news and your husband sounds so cute about it!
Regarding your pop quiz, I have a feeling that we are going to have two children and that is perfect
@dc yoga bee: Yayayay! Vacations are so fun! Do you get to take them often? Before last December- it had been years since I took a real vacation. DH's mother goes abroad once or twice a year now in retirement.
@Boopers: Woohoo! You're out of limbo land!
@Eko:

Now for some fun:
When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I definitely want to tell DH in a special way. I would like it to involve a special occasion, but of course I can't plan that. LOL.
What is your favorite part of TTC?
Not often do you get the opportunity to experience such raw and pure hope.
What is something you are really into right now?
-I'm reading the Maker's Diet Revolution and doing a 100 day challenge with my chiropractor's office. So I'm really into fermenting foods, soaking grains....discovering a new way of eating.
