@Crystal: Hm. I hope so. Guess we'll find out. I bet it was hard to see me last night. I was really really upset. Emotional overload. I'm not sure why he won't get tested. I think it's because he prefers to be in denial. Doesn't want to think anything is wrong. I can't get him to the dentist either.
@septca: I would love to know more about said strict diet.

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I'd like to get a big brother short or onesie for DS and have him wearing it when DH gets home.
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- Thinking of names and being around others who are going through the same experience.
What is something you are really into right now?
- I'm trying to read more and also get baby into exercise. I used to go to the gym daily and I've really missed how it makes me feel.

@sandy: That is adorable!
I only know a few stitches my great grandmother taught me before she passed away, but recently a friend showed me the granny square: http://crochet.about.com/od/learntocrochet/ss/Crochet_Granny_Square.htm
Its actually a really fast simple way to make a blanket!
I never thought about making toys, I totally should though.
@Snowdrop: What do you knit? I have made a few scarves and I am very proud of them, lol.

@HolisticMama: it's pretty simple - the idea is that following the diet (1) helps prevent pregnancy-related complications (like GD), and (2) helps you grow the appropriate size baby for your body. Here are the rules:
Every day, strive to eat:
* 6-8 servings fruit and vegetables, including one orange one and one yellow one
* 2-3 servings whole grains
* 2-4 servings organic dairy
* 2-4 servings protein (not including dairy)
* no more than 1 cup juice per day, preferably orange
* no white foods
* no refined sugar, raw sugars in extreme moderation
* caffeine and alcohol in moderation (1-2 cups of coffee per day, and you can have wine in moderation after 1st tri)
* 30-60 minutes of exercise per day, preferably walking and/or yoga
That's it - there are no restrictions on raw food, lunch meat, etc. you are supposed to do your own research on those things and make your own decisions (I didn't eat sushi or lunch meat, but I did eat lots of raw and undercooked eggs, plus some soft cheese when we were in Paris). I followed the diet about 70% (which is the goal) and gained 29 lbs. I was the strongest and healthiest I have ever been in my life on this plan, and lost all of the weight + 5 lbs within 6 weeks.

@septca: For so long I have thought that grains were bad. So it's hard for me to get them into my diet now. Although I did make some awesome sprouted wheat sourdough pancakes this weekend. I was absolutely SHOCKED on how long they kept me full. Just crazy.
6-8 combination of fruits and veggies? OR 6 each?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@HolisticMama: 6-8 TOTAL. Grains are *really* important to any diet (IMO), but especially for fetal brain development. You are only allowed completely whole grains - oatmeal, wheat berries, quinoa, farro, etc. The grains are what kept me at 70%.

@septca: I agree. It's just so hard to shake all that brain washing I received when I was younger. LOL. I soak my grains now too. So is chicken considered a white food?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@HolisticMama: ha, ha - no. Just no white flour, sugar, potatoes, rice.

@dc yoga bee: i bought a book of amugurumi patterns from Barnes and noble but you can find tons of free patterns online
Here's one I found for a pear on google super quick http://www.planetjune.com/blog/free-crochet-patterns/amigurumi-pears/
I get the eyes from Sunshine Discount Crafts online but I bet michaels or hobby lobby would have them. I just use felt and colored thread to decorate the face.
I've made tons of toys before LO for other kids but now that I have her I hardly have time. Here's an owl I made from leftover yarn

@Crystal: i've made lots of little things and a jumper once but got really bored of that. I'm knitting a jumper for my dog that i'm kind of making up but recently I did this hat for my friends little girl and another as a gift fr a baby in the family. It's not the one I did but apart from the colours it looks the same:

@sandy: those are the cutest thing ever!! You should have an etsy shop.
@septca: sorry about BFN. Hoping its just a late implantation or O.

@MrsMccarthy: I can't have an Etsy shop bc it takes me forever to make one...at least a few hours for one tiny toy

Wow, this thread moves so fast if I miss even a day! I'm about to go through and update myself on what's going on with everyone, but right now I could use some extra sets of eyes...I stopped using digital OPKs this month because they were getting pretty expensive and I wasn't sure I trusted their accuracy as much anyways. So this is the first time I've tried to read a non-digital OPK...does this look positive to you? One of those where the test line should be equal or darker compared to the control line. They're sooooo close but I'm not sure if I should mark it as a positive on my FF chart or not.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@wonderstruck: I would say no, but I would bet big money that it will be positive tomorrow! Time to get busy.
pear / 1846 posts
@wonderstruck: it isn't a strong positive but I would Mark it as positive because if you took another test in an hour or so it probably will be (I say this from experience) you might catch your surge on the way down tomorrow morning too if you were to test. Get in the sack!

@septca: @Snowdrop: Thank you! I'm not kicking myself for being too tired to do anything last night...but we did BD on Sunday night, and I will be all over DH when he gets home from work, haha!

BFP announcement - While we were shopping for a gift for a friend my husband fell in love with a penguin hat for a baby so I went back and got it to give him when I find out. I also have a picture frame he gave me eons ago that is pretty baby-ish but references a pet name so I am thinking about putting a note from baby in it to give to him.
What I like about TTC - Like a lot of you, it has given me a great way to get involved in this awesome community. It has also helped my husband and I be closer in some ways.
What I am into right now - Project Life which is a scrapbooking variation. I am making lots of progress on getting last year documented and working on this year too. I hope I have lots of happy things to include this year!
@MrsMccarthy: We are both on board with 2 with potential for a third depending on how things go. We are both happy to wait until #2 comes along to make that decision though. Thanks for the podcast recommendations, the one you made is hilarious!
@Crystal: Wow, six is a lot of kids!!!
@septca: I hope your interview goes well! Good Luck!
I am so impressed with the knitting/crocheting talent in this group! I have learned how several times but I always get way too bored to finish anything. Years ago my husband told me we could have a baby when I finished a baby blanket-- maybe that's why I haven't had a bfp yet, I have yet to finish one!

@Snowdrop: We should crochet/knit some tampon crafts. Then open an etsy shop. I love your hats, adorable!
@sandy: That is so cute!
@wonderstruck: Looks like it will happen soon! Happy BD-ing!!!

@sandy: I love the owl! I didn't have time to respond, but was going to mention you should start an etsy shop. I would totally buy the owl! And a giraffe!

@Cole: aww I love your BFP announcement. I hope you get to use it really soon. I've always wanted to scrapbook but I am kind of a mess when it comes to crafts
. @wonderstruck: DO IT!!!!! you are definitely close enough to that egg to start making it count.

@sandy: my MIL made our son a Hobbes doll using crochet and people kept saying she should sell them but she said it was so much work and took so long that she would have to charge A LOT for it to be worth her while.

I was hoping to have a second chance to POAS this month but I don't know what's going on with my body. boo.

@Crystal: everything lol. I'm had a rough day at work, came home and hubs doesn't want to have any fun time so it's an "I hate my life" evening. Not sure if the weird spotting has completely thrown off this cycle and whether I will O or not.

@babycanuck: boo...sorry it was a sucky day. Pamper yourself and spoil yourself tonight - take a bath, do your nails and have some wine/chocolate. Hope tomorrow is better!
