@sandy: here's my favorite kind of green smoothie - I use mostly frozen produce, which helps the texture and is easier/cheaper/not any worse nutritionally.
blend 1c frozen whole-leaf spinach or frozen kale with 1c water (if you have a super blender like a vitamix you can do it all together, but I use a cheap stick blender). you can use some portion juice if you want it sweeter. Whole Foods has frozen kale which I have not seen elsewhere.
then add 1 ripe banana and 1c frozen fruit - I use a mix of berries, peaches and pineapple. with the stick blender I have to spend some time working through the frozen chunks. but on the plus side, you can make it in the container you will drink out of!
if you want protein or a thicker texture, add nonfat plain greek yogurt (about 1/2c).
what's nice is this is a basic proportion and you can vary exactly what's in it.

@HOLISTICMAMA: This is amazing and has infinitely made my day better!!! I am pretty sure that could apply to make of the TWW ladies!

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I'm with you @Mrs.Panda, I believe a onesie with the Iowa State Univeristy logo will do the job. But since I've never seen a BFP, who knows how I'll react. I also don't think I'll actually get to POAS this cycle, since my Clomid cycle is monitored, I'll be in for an ultrasound BEFORE AF is due.
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- The community I have found on HelloBee has been the biggest blessing I could have asked for. I have found myself less stressed about the TTC thing because of all of the support I get on here that I couldn't possible get from my friends and family who are not in the TTC boat. I'm approaching a year of TTC, but am more at ease now than I was in months 3-8.
What is something you are really into right now?
- My faith! A year ago, that definitely wouldn't have been the answer. But things have changed in the last year. I now sing in the church choir, am assisting with this year's CEW retreat, and host a bi-weekly bible study.

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I usually can't keep it a secret, so I just tell him as soon as I see a line. I think it would be cute to get Liam a "Big Brother" shirt and put it on him before he gets home from work. But after our loss last summer, I'd hate to get too excited again...
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- Looking up my potential due date at the beginning of each cycle and thinking about being pregnant for x holiday or have a newborn during x season.
What is something you are really into right now?
- Meal planning. We have been terrible at it lately, so I'm really trying to get back into the swing of planning what we'll have for the whole week. I hate getting stuck in a takeout rut!

@HolisticMama: This cycle, I sat down and explained TTC with DH. He finally "got it" this cycle, and low and behold, a positive test... DH even insisted on DTD after O, to "make sure we get the egg".
TTC really does take a lot of the romance out of sex, but having both people on the same page, really did help. He didn't feel like he was being used and I felt reassured that he was a full partner with me on this journey.

@gksj: I really really hope that DH starts feeling the same way your DH did. I think it's so sweet that he wanted to get the egg. LOL. And so so happy about your BFP.

@Boopers: Yay for AF finally showing up!
@MrsMccarthy: DH wants 6 kids. (Yes, you read that right, SIX). I want three or four.
I am worried that being 28 and not yet been able to successfully carry a baby, we may be limited to one or two, especially when you take spacing into consideration.

@dc yoga bee: LOL. I actually think that's a healthier way to think about it... In TTC, as in life, the simplest explanation is usually correct.
BFP announcement - I followed through with my cute plan when I got my BFP with DD, but it kind of fell flat because DH didn't believe me. He said he couldn't see the line (it was really faint) and said I had to get a beta. He wasn't *really* a believer until we saw a heartbeat 3 weeks later.
What I like about TTC - a community where I get to be as crazy as I want (I promise I have it together IRL...), thinking through possible due dates, getting excited about being pregnant again (I LOVED being pregnant).
What I am into right now - my job. I am doing a 6-month rotation in a new job and I love it. So nice after being stuck in the same job for 6+ years and feeling like I was in a rut. I don't want to go back!!! I have an interview tomorrow for a big promotion that would allow me to stay, so wish me luck!

When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
- I have a whale toy (we have a sperm whale joke) that I used for our first BFP. I hid it under the sheets and surprised my DH. After our MC he requested that I hide the whale again. So, I have to find a creative place to hide the whale, lol
hmmm...hide the whale sounds like a really bad euphemism!
What is your favorite part of TTC?
- I like the positive direction of this question! Probably that no matter what there is always hope. At least for now
What is something you are really into right now?
- Kinda boring but I've really started cracking down on sticking to some clean eating habits. No preservatives yada yada yada but it makes me happy
Thanks for keeping us busy @mrs.panda: TWW always seems like foooorrrrevvverrrr

A note on green smoothies - I know they are all the rage right now, but seriously, starting a GS habit is one of the best things I have ever done. It was recommended by my MW, who is militant about diet, so I drank one every day when I was pregnant with DD. They make you feel SO good, and like you have gotten your day started right.

@dc yoga bee: I vote implantation!! Squee! FX!!!
When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
Last time, I wrapped up some baby books to give him. I had bought him a few onesies to put in his stocking before we found out I was going to have a MC, so now I will wrap those up to give to him.
What is your favorite part of TTC?
I also like the bond DH and I have, and knowing we are doing something that is so full of love and hope. One of my other most favorite parts is this community. Never did I think I would be able to share all this stuff going on with me and have such support.
What is something you are really into right now?
Trying to get healthy! And crocheting. (I am 28 going on 60).

@HolisticMama: Why is he so against getting blood work? Do you think he will be more accommodating now that you have explained it?
I love your hope quote.
Hope is such a powerful thing.

Just read through the last THREE pages! Congrats to the BFPs, so glad this thread is picking up .
@holistic mama: months 2/3 were terrible with DH on the sex front. He never initiated, and erm experienced failiure to launch oooh about 4 times! I really thought it would never get better. But I explained stuff to him and also explained how it upsets me when he never initiates because I am not feeling great about my body anyway (cos of not feeling fertile and womanly). It got much better the next month.
@mrs scottish: like @littlebit: said, month 4 is the WORST!
@dcyogabee: i'm sure @littlek: wrote about different coloured underwear at different CDs once haha. It might be just red cotton fluff?
@crystal: my DH says he want 5 boys for his 5 aside football team. He can dream

@Snowdrop: Red cotton fluff!!!! I almost spit my soda out! Um, it's definitely a "spot." Man, thats so TMI! Sorry! Cotton fluff I could wipe off,not this spot!

@bhbee: thanks for the recipe! I have so much frozen fruit I need to use it up! I've never heard of using frozen spinach... Do you buy the frozen kind or buy fresh and freeze yourself?
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@sandy: you can do it either way - it's a good way to save fresh spinach that is on the verge of turning bad. but for ease I just buy the bag of whole-leaf frozen spinach at Whole Foods. their prices for frozen are pretty good.
some argue frozen has better nutrition because it's flash frozen right after picking, vs sitting on a truck and shelf before you buy it while the nutrition goes down. I don't know how true it is.
also, I've found frozen holds down the smell of the greens which for some can be a turn-off.

@dc yoga bee: haha ok, it's just I got that when I wore a new pair of red knickers. We weren't TTC but I thought uh oh, caught out with no tampons...yeah.

@Crystal: I love to crochet! Have you found any good patterns? I bought a book to make little stuffed toys. I would love to make a beautiful blanket but I'm pretty slow and it takes me a long time to make even a tiny toy

@HolisticMama: I am so sorry to hear that you had a rough night. I totally understand how you feel and i fel for your husband too because it must make him feel bad too that he has little to no drive.
When you get your BFP, do you have a special way you are going to tell your DH? Or do you test together?
I think I am goign to try to surprise him this time since last time i didn't think i would be pregnant so we were both super surprised and took the tests together. This time maybe i will get a big brother shirt or something. I should think of some cute ideas during my brutal 2 week wait.
What is your favorite part of TTC?
In some ways it's exciting that I get to be a part of these POAS boards and anticipate. My husband and I didn't get that feeling last time of "we're making a baby now!' Plus i love to obsess on things but i know myself and this will get old fast and it is already stressful. Control freaks don't handle wait and see well.
What is something you are really into right now? Podcasts! I have been listening to them to help me sleep lately and they have been great. My favorites are The Nerdist, particulary You Made It Weird with Bill Holmes. Actually my husband and i decided to make a podcast for our cat Brock. We have had him for 4 years and we both do a voice for him and he talks to us in a really sassy way all around the house. So now he has a podcast and here it is:
