When do you have an abdominal vs a transvaginal? I had a transvaginal at 6w4d, and knew that'd be the case.
But what about 16 weeks?

I had an abdominal u/s at 16 weeks. I only had a transvaginal u/s at 8 weeks- the dating u/s.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 11w4d and an abdominal at 18 and 20 weeks.

I had a transvaginal on Monday and then had an abdominal today (I am 9w1d). The image of the transvaginal wasn't clear enough to get an accurate measurement of the baby.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks and an abdominal NT scan at 12 weeks.

I had BOTH a transvaginal and abdominal at my first appointment (at 8 weeks) and abdominal through the rest of my pregnancy.

I had transvaginal at 7w and 9w and then abdominal after that

they should be able to do an abdominal one at 16 weeks. Both my NT scans at 12 weeks were abdominal.

I only have had abdominal. I got lucky!

at 12ish weeks I had a TV, at 20weeks it was abdominal

I had transvaginal at 6w, 8 w,12 w &13w, abdominal at 12w, 13w & 20w. They had to do both at 12 & 13 bc they didn't have a great view.

At 7 weeks, I had a transvaginal and at 13 weeks I had an abdominal.

I had an abdominal at 16 weeks. I had a transvag first because I was there to have cervical length checked, and then she switched to abdominal to look at baby - that's when we found out the gender!

I've had both at all my ultrasounds (5w, 8w, 19w). They ended up having to do transvaginal at my 19w because he was laying funny and wouldn't move around. They couldn't see where the placenta was attached, so transvaginal it was.

The first u/s I had was at 12 weeks and it (and the one at 19w) were both abdominal. It's my understanding that at 12 weeks they start out with the abdominal and, if they can't see what they need to, they would proceed to transvaginal. I would imagine at 16 weeks that it would almost certainly be abdominal

By 12 weeks, I was getting abdominal u/s. 8 weeks was the only transvaginal one.

Yikes!
I had an abdominal at 8 weeks because of spotting (which turned out to be nothing) and another abdominal at 20 weeks. That's it!
With this one I will plan to/hope to only have the 20 weeks one.
