Someone shared this above story on my FB feed and I cannot stop crying! My heart breaks for this family and for the little boy who will never get to know his mommy.... 
On the bright side, it's amazing how many people are coming together to support them.

She was the college roommate of an old coworker of mine and she only lived 30 minutes from me. It make me incredibly sad. So bittersweet to have a new baby and then lose your wife; I just can't imagine.

That hospital is close to my family. My husband actually had surgery there when we were in college. I just can't imagine what her husband must be going through.

Also, selfishly, I really wish they explained WHAT happened in stories like these. Realistically I know that every situation is different and knowing wouldn't change anything probably. But there's a selfish desire to know what went wrong so you can try to avoid it yourself and these stories never seem to give details.

@Mae: It said something about her having internal bleeding? I think because of HIPAA they usually can't disclose any details

@JoJoGirl: Yea I figured. (Although the family could say). I'm sure it would make no difference. But its just that instinct when you hear about something horrible happening to be like-- holy shit how can I prevent that? Like a house fire. Was it a candle? A curling iron left on? An uncleaned furnace? I dunno. Natural nosy instinct.

@Mae: I know exactly what you mean. I'd like to know what happened too. It says something in the article about bleeding so maybe they couldn't get the bleeding to stop? I don't know. It's so sad and terrifying at the same time.

A friend, who gave birth the same day as me, 2 hours before, died from childbirth shortly after.
Complications led to infections and she was hospitalized for a few days and then passed away the day before Mother's Day. Her baby boy will be 2 in a few months, she had two older boys as well. It's such a shame and it breaks my heart.

@Mae: I also like to know the details of what happens in situations like this. I am always wanting to know what to expect can happen and how to prepare the same.

@Mae: @JoJoGirl: @MrsMcD: I don't know what happened in this situation but I have a cousin and a very dear friend who we almost lost after childbirth. My cousin had placenta accreta, she was in a coma after childbirth and ultimately had an emergency hysterectomy. My friend had a retained placenta with her first but it was caught in the hospital, with her second everything seemed fine until a week later and almost bled out and required two blood transfusions.
ETA: you can't really tell if this will happen ahead of time
