I found these two books at AC Moore yesterday. They had quite a few to choose from. The store I went to had them on the same aisle as the Crayola crayons and markers.
I am just using Crayola colored pencils for now. They work ok, but if I get more into it I may buy some nicer supplies.

@dc yoga bee: yeah, they're nice - I got hand me downs from my mom (who's an artist) and then have a small new set that we got on sale
