I've never been a runner...I have always opted for the elliptical. A new mom friend wants me to do a 5k with her and I feel like this might be the motivation I need to try out running...and get back in shape (I lost all the baby weight 3 months pp...kept it off until the holidays hit...and now LO is 17 months and I would love to lose 5 lbs for summer).

I have no idea where to start. I don't have good running shoes (I have size 4.5 feet and kids shoes aren't as sturdy as adult shoes). Should I do Couch to 5k? I saw a thread where someone mentioned Hal Higdon. I need advice bc I don't want to fail at this. Thanks!
