Cliffs notes: 16 year old kid and his friends steal beer from walmart, get trashed beyond belief, and then he gets behind the wheel of a truck which he then smashes into 4 pedestrians, killing them. Defense argues it isn't his fault because he's a "victim of affluenza" which means that his wealthy parents never set boundaries for him and never taught him right from wrong. Judge gives him probation.

My opinion? Total bullish*t. The judge is doing exactly what the defense claims his parents did--- not giving him any consequences for his actions! He murdered 4 people. This is not some 8 year old who didn't understand the gun he found in his dad's end table was real. This is a 16 year old living in America with constant reminders from school, media, billboards, DRIVING INSTRUCTORS, that you cannot drink and drive. That people die when you do. I'd bet my arm this kid sat through at least one MADD (mother against drunk driving) seminar in school, or something similar. I think he deserves to rot in jail, personally, and I'm pretty horrified by this outcome.
