Has anyone had their glucose test in the afternoon? Mine will be around 2pm, and I'm wondering what to do about fasting/eating/etc. I got absolutely no instruction from my midwife.
I mostly need to know:
Can I eat that day?
If yes, what should I eat/not eat?

I did! A friend gave me some advice. Don't eat sweets for 24hrs, and keep the carbs to a minimum. This includes fruit. Don't eat or drink anything after you take the glucose drink, but before is fine. I passed with flying colors.

Mine was in the afternoon. I just ate normally.... But shipped the big bowl of pasta at lunch.
I think I passed (it was last Thursday and haven't gotten a call yet.)

Mine is at 2:30 next Monday and I really have no idea what to do lol. I've heard that fasting can make it worse but that's just want the Internet doctors said. Good luck dear!

Mine was in the morning but I was told to eat breakfast but to not eat for one hour preceding the test.

At my practice, you only need to fast for the 1 hour between drinking the glucose drink and getting your blood drawn.

You should definitely call your midwife and ask them what you are supposed to do. If they didn't tell you that you have to fast, then you probably don't have to. That would be a pretty major thing to leave out.

Mine is in the afternoon and they told me to eat as I normally do.

@mfa_lady: Mine was in the morning, and she said I could eat breakfast but it wasn't a time to go carb crazy, and I should be done eating at least an hour before the test. I happened to have a crazy morning and didn't have time to eat, so ended up fasting. No way I could have fasted for an afternoon test, though! Hope you find a good balance of protein to carry you through!

Is it the glucose screening test (1hr) or the glucose challenge test (3hr)?
For the screening test, you don't have to fast but you shouldn't eat anything in the hour before the test. For the 3-hour, most drs will tell you to fast for 8-10 hrs before the test.
Definitely double check with your midwife to make sure you understand which test you are taking!

Hey lady! Can't believe it's glucose test time already! Time is flying!!
I had a cheese stick, some nuts, and a protein bar before my test (think my test was around 10 or 11am) and I passed with flying colors! Like others said, I would just stay away from anything super sugary!
