@BlushInk I agree. The overuse of acronyms drives me crazy- especially cutesy ones. "BD" in particular. We're grown women. Can we not just say "sex"? It's only one extra letter.
I guess I've used euphemisms to avoid being vulgar, but I prefer a more straightforward approach as well.
Perhaps it's because I've come across women in real life that are so embarrassed that they are unable to talk about their own bodies in biological/scientific terms and I think that's sad.

For the LONGEST time I knew what BD meant, but have no idea what it stood for. I was convinced it was b____ (I didn't know what the B stood for, lol) deposit. As in, depositing sperm to make a baby. NEVER did it cross my mind it could mean "baby dance" which is just dumb to me...

@navy_mommy that was the one that made NO sense to me. All of the other acronyms were usually for actual words, just shortened acronyms... I don't understand the acronyms for made up phrases like "baby dance."

Ha ha ha - Blushink, I am the same way. I hate acronyms. They drive me crazy because I do what you do and try to spell it. Then I'll try to come up with what it is and come up with some completely ridiculous name. I had to ask what FTW was (for the win) I always thought it was something bad.

BD makes me think of immature little kids who would whisper it, then giggle and run away. I usually say "boning," but that's another level of immaturity for me...

I usually try to spell out whatever i'm trying to say. I've occassionally used DH, but i prefer to write out my husband. I dunno. acronyms are confusing for everyone.

I'm all about calling things what they are. I'd rather call a period what it is. that, or bleeding. HA. Been trying to use acronyms on here though since everyone uses them. -.-

I never used to use them. I'm a terrible speller and I thought by spelling words out I was challenging myself to spell better...same thing went for notes in college, I never used short hand.

Now I use some of the acronym's, but it really depends on who I am talking to or where I am posting. If someone asked me a questions and I wasn't sure how familiar they were with the different abbreviations I would spell it out and add the abbreviation so they knew for next time.

Yes! They drive me nuts. I'm always having to look up what they mean.
