We had C out for a walk in her stroller and a woman I've seen in the neighborhood before drove by and complimented our "beautiful family." Then she said, "Oh and another one on the way!"
C is 13 days old.
I didn't even take offense- I mean, I had a BABY 13 days ago. She's tiny. What a dummie.

Boooo...I'm afraid of those comments 8 months pp! I carry my weight in the middle and need to lose 30 lbs that I was carrying pre pregnancy! I say pay them no mind - people should just know better than to make baby comments.

People are so ridiculous! Glad you didn't take it to heart! I was 4 days post partum (slouching and wincing in pain from my tear) and someone actually walked by me and touched my belly and told me to stand proud since I have a little one on the way. My hormones were raging and I did not take it so well!

I remember when a gossip tv show said the same thing about Madonna's pp bump years ago. Even then, I thought that they were so dumb.

So annoying! I don't think everyone realizes what post partum really looks like. I think people have the image of Gisele Bundchen in a bikini carrying a newborn in their head.

@Foodnerd81: Yep! I was in CVS. No one really ever touched my belly while I was actually pregnant without asking, so I was just so dumbfounded in the moment. I wish I had thought of something to say to the woman, but I was too shocked.

@Cherrybee: oh god I just remembered a dream I had earlier tonight that I took a preg test and it was positive! Then in my dream I remembered there had most definitely not been any opportunities for impregnation since baby was born!

I have to admit, I did that once. Luckily I didn't say anything to the actual person... I just pointed her out to dh and said, "holy moly, that lady has three little kids and she's pregnant." Dh turned to me and said, "you've just become one of those people you hate. She's not pregnant, she has a newborn." I felt awful

@artbee: at least your Dh called you out! There is a woman in my building with three little boys who I think is pregnant - the youngest as prob almost two - but I won't be saying anything about the next one unless she does!!

People are so stupid. I had P with me at the mall when she was 7 weeks old. A girl I knew from HS was talking to my sister and I and said "Oh, are you pregnant again?". I said "Nope, just fat because I just had a baby". Then she says "Yeah, my sister just had a baby and people ask her all the time if she's pregnant again. She hates it". I was like, duh, so why would you ask someone else that?
13 days though, REALLLLY???

Some lady did that to me too! She actually touched my (flabby, empty) belly. I don't remember how old DS was maybe a month.

Has she never had kids???? Anyone who has or has been around a mother, knows that the belly doesn't immediately go from the size of a watermelon down to the nothing. Logic...come on folks...
@foodnerd81: if it makes you feel better, it happened to me once. I was like 4 days PP and walked into a pharmacy to my prescription of iron meds (lost a ton of blood during labor) and the pharmacist was like, "it looks like any day now for you!"
I was like...WTF. I looked maybe....4m pregnant. Ain't no way I looked like I was ready to pop. Asshole...
I was just like, "yeeeeeeah" and fake smiled.

Haha. People are ridiculous.
Our realtor pulled up in our driveway when I was two days PP with LO and had just got back from her first peds appt. We said how we had just had LO and she goes 'oh and another on the way??' Umm wtf. Even worse, she has two kids herself!! It was such a dumb thing to say that I couldn't even be angry. But I really hope she was mortified.
