A friend of mine recommended the Angelcare Baby Monitor, but when I looked it up I saw there was a recent recall. Does anyone have one of their motion monitors or a recommendation of a similar product? We are interested specifically on the motion feature and don't care so much about video.

Their recall was only because the cord could be a strangulation risk if you leave it in the crib. Don't be an idiot and leave a cord in your baby's crib.
We LOVE our angel care. The other option is a snuza but you have to actually clip it on to the child.

I really like our Angel Care. The only problem I have is that I'm a zombie in the MOTN and always forget to click it off before taking DS out of his crib. Then, my husband comes running in a panic into LO's room.
At least we know it works

We really like ours - we did get a few false alarms to start in the first couple months, but whether she was just sleeping really deeply, or was just so tiny that her swaddle masked her movement or what, I don't know. We still like it.

I think I'm going to add it to our registry.@T.H.O.U.: maybe I just haven't looked closely enough at the details online but it says something about batteries. Is the cord used all the time or just to recharge the unit?

I love ours - I especially love the "sleep" function on it, in which the sound is muted for 2 min (great for sleep training, or when your LO is fussing before falling asleep)

@jhd: the cord is used all the time to connect the pad in the crib to the base unit, but we have ours wrapped around the crib leg so she shouldn't be able to grab it.

After the recall, we decided on the Snuza Hero which looks fairly similar to me.
