If you waited to tell friends & family did you find yourself wanting to tell random strangers?
I turned down a pair of expensive shoes the other day & told the gal we were expecting & I couldn't justify the expense. I'm finding it hard to keep my mouth shut with strangers lol why!?

The first person I told was the receptionist at the gym...random! I told every stranger ever before I could tell people I really knew

Lol, we told DH's family on Christmas Day. The next day was my SIL's bday and her and I went to get pedicures and I told the nail tech!

YES!!! It was so satisfying! I do the same thing with the gender of our baby (we're surprising family/friends at our showers) and so I've told all my coworkers and I love telling random people haha!

The second person I told, after DH, was the guy leading a cooking class, total stranger. He was all happy for us, but seemed to think it was odd when I told him he was the first person we'd told!
I told TSA agents before anyone in our families, but that was because I was opting out of the machines.

I wanted to shout it out to the world.... but I never did tell anyone. Other then doctor's of course. My mom told every stranger she saw that my SIL was pregnant before they were telling people.

I told my dental hygienist first. Then started chatting with random pregnant women on the train.

I feel like I'm more apt to tell strangers because I'll never see them again. There is no worry to un-tell the news, if something bad happens
Though I have to admit, third time around, more and more people know earlier than before....

I didn't tell any strangers but my stepfather told EVERYONE he saw. He was so excited. We only told immediate family at first, and my stepdad has a big mouth, so to keep himself from spilling the beans he told every waitress, receptionist, store clerk, etc. that he was going to be a grandpa! It was so cute.

I didn't tell random strangers I was expecting, but I did tell a lady in line at Starbucks the name we'd chosen...so my mom, my MIL, and random lady were the only ones to know the name before she was born!

We just had a training session at work and the MD asked if anyone had anything to add and I really just wanted to blurt out "I'm pregnant!!!"

I want to tell random strangers or co-workers (I work remotely so I don't see these people IRL)-- hubs and I want to wait until 14 weeks, so we have a loooooooooooong 10 weeks to go until we can start talking about it.

haha ummm I totally told my hair stylist the day after my BFP! I was still just SO SUPER excited and I hadn't even told my mom yet because I was waiting to do it in person. I think she thought it was slightly strange (she was like "wow-- I know before your mom-- I feel honored!" lol) but whatever. I was excited and she's someone I see once every few months, so I saw no harm.

Yes! We're waiting to tell people outside of immediate family and close friends until 12 weeks - so in the meantime it gives me the satisfaction of telling without the risk of them blabbing! I told some random waiter when I had to turn down lunch meat and a gas attendant who suggested I "get wasted" last weekend (wtf).

For sure I did! I was itching to tell, but couldn't tell most people I know, so I told strangers instead.

I definitely did this. I was on a business trip at about 8 weeks and ended up having to buy a new outfit because the bloat rendered one I'd brought along unwearable...so I had a really nice conversation about why I was shopping with the nice saleslady at Nordstrom. And I usually sit at the bar when I go to restaurants alone, so I also told the bartender because it felt awkward to sit at the bar and not drink, and ended up chatting to the couple sitting next to me about it (they were newly empty-nesters, so on the other end of the parenting spectrum, haha). There were a bunch of other times, as well. I figured, I was never going to see these people again, so why not? It was kind of fun!
