We got them all a small baby item as a gift. We told them it was a group present and they all had to open at the same time. It was so funny watching them figure it out. My brother couldnt' figure out why we were giving him baby lotion and my mom couldn't figure out why she needed a bottle brush.

If it is the first grandchild, I'm a big fan of getting the new grandparents a #1 Grandma mug or something like that. I think we will do that for DH's mom when the time comes. That's my only idea. My parents are already grandparents, but since I will probably wait a few weeks to tell them, hopefully I will have an ultrasound pic to put in some kind of grandparent frame.

We said we had a gift for them and then gave them each a onesie that somehow related to something with them.

ETA: I found out a couple days before we told them and didn't have a ton of time to make really cute onesies, so I just bought fabric pens and plain onesies. They look a bit rough, but everyone LOVED them!

@Foodnerd81: Yes! And I definitely recommend the framed ultrasound picture! Our parents were all "Oh, what's this? A gift for us? What's the occasion?" and we were all "Oh, no reason, just because!" and then they would open it and their eyes would just LIGHT UP. Although Hubs' dad actually looked confused at first and then was all "Oh!!!" It's so fun to watch them figure out what you're telling them and then have them get so excited!

We found this poem online that we loved so we printed it out kn cute paper and put it inside a frame.

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.

@kpow: we are planning to tell my family in two weeks when we're going for a weekend getaway with all my sisters and my parents. I have offered to bring my camera and tripod so we can take some cute family pictures since we'll all be together for once. I'm planning on taking a few to warm them up, then I'll say, "I'M PREGNANT!" right before the camera goes off, so that all their reactions will be preserved forever :).

I'm hoping we will be pregnant next cycle, which would allow us to tell our families right around my dads birthday. I would have everyone else in the room besides our parents know before hand, and when we sing happy birthday, we will sing "happy birthday dear grandpa" ... I can't wait to see everyone's faces!!

I had given them some books the first time. my mom got it immediately and my dad took awhile--it was pretty hilarious

I've been doing my research and I found one where the couple had this big box with no lid on it. They wrapped it. And when they had they're parents open it, helium pink and blue balloons floated out and the positive test or sonogram pic was attached to it. Cute because everybody gets to experience it not just whos opening the gift!

I was hoping I'd be pregnant before Christmas so we could do it for our families but no positive test yet ):
