Baby girl should be here in 5 weeks or so and we still haven't settled on a name. We have a couple names on our short list... Holly, Margo, Anne, Anna, and Alyssa. I also like the idea of Margaret with Margo/Margot as the nickname... DH is still on the fence about it.
I think I might prefer Margaret over Margo for a couple of reasons. A) It's a more classic and stylistically more similar to Julia (DD#1's name) B) I think Margaret sounds better on a resume than Margo - more sophisticated perhaps? C) Margaret might give her more options than Margo... she could go by Margaret, Margo/Margot, Meg, Maggie, Greta, etc.
Despite these pros, I do worry that it might be annoying if we always called her Margo/Margot to have a different given name. Would it bother her to always be called Margaret on the first day with a new teacher?
If you go by a nickname or a name different than your given name, is it annoying???
Also, if we did just name her Margo, which spelling do you prefer? My sister likes Margo, but hates the Margot spelling...said it makes her think of maggots. Otherwise, I think I prefer the Margot spelling to Margo, but I see what she's saying...
