I also have an anterior placenta but I haven't heard the things your DH's coworker mentioned. It definitely took longer for me to feel kicks but, at 34 weeks, the kicks just keep coming now!

I also had an anterior placenta with DS. The only issue had was not being able to feel kicks until 24+ weeks and even then it was hard. I actually wasn't told I had an anterior placenta until I had an ultrasound at 40w with MFM. had I known earlier I could have eased my mind a little about not being able to feel movement

As for the things DH's co-worked said I have never heard of them associated with an anterior placenta either. The cord was wrapped around my neck and I had a "stork bite" birthmark, so it would be interesting to know if my mom had an anterior placenta with me, but back then didn't do ultrasounds so no way of knowing!

Try not to worry about it and enjoy your pregnancy! What your doctor tells you are the only things you need to be concerned with!

I had an anterior placenta and I didn't feel kicks until 21 weeks. I've never heard about birthmarks and other risks!

I have an anterior placenta, and I didn't have real trouble with feeling kicks early on, and I haven't heard about those other risks. My midwives haven't mentioned anything about it!

I had one and didn't feel kicks till 20 or 21 weeks, can't remember. But I never heard of this concerns. The cord was loosely around R's neck but I think that can happen to anyone.

I had an anterior placenta. Felt kicks starting around 18 weeks! No complications.

Anterior here too: took until 22 weeks to feel kicks (and they were massive thumps rather than flutters) no cord or back labour, but does has a birth mark on his shoulder.

I also heard a theory that those with anterior placentas have morning sickness for longer since the baby kicks the placenta. Certainly true in my case! Lol.

I have an anterior placenta too but I've been told its quite high up - which probably explains why I was "lucky" and have been feeling movement since around 17 weeks, but they only become really strong kicks at about 20 weeks (I'm 22 weeks now).
I've not read any of those bits of info before, but then I've not done much reading about it anyway...

Anterior placenta here and felt kicks around 20 weeks, no back labor in delivery. None of the other complications either!

I just found out at my 20 week anatomy scan that I have an anterior placenta, and I've been feeling movement since about 16 weeks. Just "rolling" sensations mostly, and a few little spasm-type kicks (haha maybe they *were* just muscle spasms?!). Now, though, definitely feeling kicks and DH felt some at 20 weeks.
Never heard about any of the other complications, though, and I hope she's wrong!

I had an anterior placenta-- and had back labor and X's head was just twisted in the canal enough that I had a really hard time getting him through my pubic bone (pushed for 3 hrs before a c-section-- c-section was due to other complications though). I felt movement around 17 weeks. I have never heard of the stuff the co-worker talked about. I don't get how in the world placenta placement can cause birthmarks.

I think the only time to really get concerned about the placenta is if it's low-lying and potentially covering the cervix.
