My mom/dad/sister frequently visit with a medium in our area and she has mentioned little things that seem pretty accurate. My grandma died last summer and they talked with her at their last session, she mentioned to my sister that my grandma wanted her to have one of her rings; something my grandma had told me prior to her passing that the medium wouldn't have known.
My sister is apparently able to communicate using a pendulum, getting yes/no answers. We tried this on Sunday, and she asked if it was my great grandma, who apparently tends to come through often. We asked if DH and I would have any more kids, and the answer was no!
We shall see! DH was happy to hear it.

My whole side of the family is very "open" to the ideas. We have gone to large group readings for one medium who is from our state. Though we did not have a read.
For my moms birthday this year I have gotten her a session with a different Medium. She is very excited. Her dad (my grandpa) passed away in 2010 from complications related to emphysema from a lifetime of smoking. Since he passed she is constantly smelling cigarette smoke in the most unlikely and sometimes impossible places. My sisters and I have each experienced it with her. Anyways, I'm excited to hear how it goes - I was referred to the medium by a friend who had a great experience.

@Mrs D: Sounds like your grandpa is definitely 'around'. Hopefully the reading goes well!
I've been to a couple 'large-group' readings that were really neat, but never any one on one. I'd love to just be on the sidelines for one though, I haven't had anyone super-close pass.

I just went to a large group reading where the woman claimed to channel arch angel metatron. I asked a question (intentionally vague-ish but with enough specifics to guide an answer) and it was a total miss. I have recently lived through a family tragedy that opened the door to potential genetic things for my kids so I asked vaguely if anyone has come through to speak to me / if there were any future ramifications for my children. She totally took my question as me saying I'm a single mom and told me I'm meeting someone in August.... soooo that was a total bust! I mean I guess I could meet someone in August but I think my husband would be annoyed.

@josina: That is so cool! Would love to try but don’t how to find a reputable person in my area?

@josina: We have a weird thing in my family...when my first grandpa passed (I was 1) my dad (his son) would always read his paper in the morning in a certain chair. We had a cardinal that always tapped at the window right by that chair. So we said it was Papa hanging out with my dad. It made us feel better.
After my grandpa passed, I told my mom I had this weird BlueJay that would hang around my kitchen window - and I felt a strong connection to it. During tough times...I have found myself asking for a sign things will be ok...I always find that within a day of these requests I'll have a very close encounter with a bluejay. So in my mind - he is the bluejay that hangs out in the yard. They say you are supposed to be open minded to it and accept that even the weirdest things can be signs.
My oldest always used to walk right over to a portrait in my grandmas house and say "Hi Papa" to a picture of my grandpa...when she only 18 mos old...it was so interesting. She always has a look on her face of like seeing an old friend. I find it interesting.
@wrkbrk: a new friend of mine recommended her. She had a very good experience. I'm in Michigan...not sure where you are but if its anywhere nearby I'll gladly share her info!

@reverie: Sounds like she wasn't legit, and totally screwed that reading up!!
I feel like some 'mediums' are legit, but probably have times where no one actually comes through and so they make stuff up vs. just saying, nope sorry, no one is here. ?
@wrkbrk: The medium my fam uses I was referred to first by by boss, and then she did a group-show at a local casino that we went to; they started doing one-on-one readings after that. So, I'd see if anyone local has gone to one, or if there are any that do group readings you could go to first?
@Mrs D: That is very cool; my sister has said the same thing about Cardinals and my grandma. I lost 4 classmates when I was in high school, and the day I found out saw 4 eagles flying overhead, and I saw them again later that week. I also took that as a sign.
I could tell so many stories of little things like that.

I have so so so many stories I could tell. But I do believe in some mediums.. I also believe there are a bunch a frauds out there too. But I do think some people are more in tune with spirits and after life. I've experienced a lot of loss and I think that is why I have so many stories. If you believe that there is no such thing as a coincidence then I'd have to believe in spirits and that they are communicating with us.
One that really sticks out to me is when I was new in my career and I was going in for a big promotion. It was like a half day of intense interviews and scenarios. I was really nervous and when I get nervous I twirl my ring. A ring I've had since I was 16, I wear it every day. I mean every day... anyway i was worried it'd twirl it during the process and it would be obvious how nervous i was. I kept telling myself not to twirl it.. well that morning I woke up and my ring was missing. It was gone. I know where I put it that night before but it was just gone. I looked everywhere and it was no where. I left and felt naked without my ring but I did the "grill" and got promoted on the spot. That night when I got home my ring was right there sitting on the counter next to the sink. Not hidden, not under anything, not on the floor. Right smack there.... I know it was my dad!!!
