M hates being swaddled but I continue to do it because we tried not swaddling her and she woke up every hour from hitting herself in the face.

She fights it for a few minutes after I swaddle her, then she eventually falls asleep. But when I put her down in the PNP she grunts for a few minutes and tries to get out of it (her eyes are closed so she does this while she is sleeping). Then when she wakes she is grunting and obviously frustrated trying to get out of the swaddle.

Last night she had a 4-hour stretch of sleep at the beginning, but then woke a couple more times way before she should have been hungry...and she was moving around trying to get unswaddled. So I don't know if the swaddle is causing her to wake up (out of frustration) or if she is going through a growth spurt and that's why she is waking to eat more often.

Is this normal behavior? She is a month old--I was hoping she would grow out of hating it so much. But I don't think not swaddling her is an option.

We use the swaddleme velcro blankets--she easily gets out of everything else we've tried.
