Anyone else love watching Food Network and HGTV?
I love Giada and Ina Garten on FN and Property Brothers, Holmes Inspection, For Rent, Income Property and pretty much any design/construction show on HGTV. I hate House Hunters... I find it pointless and it's always on! (Plus, I know someone who was on it and it's totally fake...)

I love HGTV but agree that House Hunters is lame. I really like the decorating shows, but they seem to be on earlier in the day. I have been watching it non stop since we started house hunting, and read Mike Holmes' books

LOVE both channels, but lately we've both been ridiculously into HGTV... we love House Hunters, House Hunters International, Property Brothers, and Love it or List it!

Why is House Hunters fake?? We love guessing what house they choose... and for the international version, we just like seeing what other properties are like in other countries.

@Mrs. High Heels: With HH International, they actually look at all the houses first and then go back and film at 3 of the locations. So it's a bit fake.
I'm more into HGTV than Food Network. I don't care for a lot of the FN shows anymore except for Chuck's Day Off and Jamie at Home(?), oh and Top Chef. I like Million Dollar Listing when it was in NY because the homes were just gorgeous without any of the LA drama!

@mrshighheels @caffeinated I've read it's fake because they have to be under contract to buy a house before they even film, and often show them touring houses that aren't even for sale http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2012/06/14/house_hunters_is_fake_here_s_why_it_matters.html -- I don't think it's as big of a deal as that article makes it out to be, but still, sort of annoying

@Mrs. High Heels: @caffeinated: They do that in the regular version of House Hunters too. My friend said that he had already purchased the home when they filmed HH. I'm not sure if they were in escrow or if they already had the keys, but it was a done deal and they just went to 2 other properties to make comments.
I do agree that it is more interesting to see homes in other countries... I find the international one more tolerable for that reason!

For me it's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Love that show! And I love me some HGTV, especially Income Property. And House Hunters. And For Rent. And lately Love it or List it is always on when I get home for the day, so I will watch that for 30 mins or so to relax before starting dinner and whatnot.

My fav show on food network is good eats but I'll watch pretty much any show on there. Well except for Paula Deen and Rachel Ray. Can't stand them.
Love Propery Brothers, Love It or List It, Bathroom Crashers, Sweat Equity ans pretty much all home reno shows on HGTV.
I know a couple who was on Property Brothers and they had already bought the house before getting on the show.

@abo We don't have cable either but we stream it off the web if we can't get the show we like on Hulu
We LOVE HGTV and DH has stopped watching it with me because I get way to many ideas!

I love both HGTV and Food Network.
I go thru phases with HGTV though and I can go weeks without watching it. Food Network though...I can't live without it! Top Chef is one of all-time favourite shows,

HGTV is my go-to station. I'm in the "love" camp when it comes to house hunters. They did a "casting" in my area, and one of the requirements is that you need to be under contract or have made an offer on a property to be on the show. Even though it's not totally authentic, I'm okay with it.

I love HGTV!! My favorites are House Hunters, Property Brothers, and High Low Project. Most of the good shows are on during the day when I can't watch them though.

I love HGTV! I like Property Brothers, Income Property and Selling New York. On the Food Network, I like Chopped and Cupcake Wars. I'm getting hungry and feeling the need to decorate all of a sudden.
