I'm not currently, but my OB's plan for me is to get the shots from 16 weeks through 36 weeks.

Not yet, but my OB told me that I will start at 20 weeks. I had my son at 35.5, so hoping for a couple of extra weeks this time.

i was taking the suppositories from week 24 to 34 for a relatively short cervix (2cm) , currently almost 36 weeks pregnant and cervix is now about 0.5cm. so glad to be done with progesterone tho, i hated it!

I will start at week 16. Do you ladies do it at home or go into the office?

I am! I started around 19 weeks. I'm on progesterone with oil shots weekly and will continue until my 36th week of pregnancy. My water broke with dd#1 at 34w2d and I had her at 34w5d. Hoping to keep this little one cooking!

@MamaMoose: it's preventive. If you had preterm birth you get put on progesterone around week 15.

@MarieJ: my OB said shots were too $$$ so he gave me suppositories.. How often do you get shot? I do daily suppositories.

@littlek: my ob said she would do the shots...she said either dh could do it for me or i could go to the office. They are once a week. In my head i feel like they will hurt less if i get them done in the office, but dh said he is fine doing them too.

@littlek: Once a week. I was on suppositories for Lo #1. Out of pocket, I will pay around $400. Insurance covers the rest. The way the insurance explained it, they would rather pay for the shots than the NICU costs.

@MarieJ: that's not bad. You were on suppositories for #1? Did you have cervix issues? This is my first time on anything. My water broke unexpectedly at 33 weeks 7 days.

@littlek: I was on suppositories the first trimester with LO #1 because of low progesterone numbers at my first appointment.

@MarieJ: why does your insurance not cover that $400? My practice bills everything after baby is born and i am released from the hospital....and my ob didn't mention a cost for the shots.

My doctor has told me that I will be given the option on my next pregnancy because E (DS2) was 4.5 weeks early and N (DS1) was 2 weeks early. She hopes to stop another early baby.

@Mrs. Lion: maybe it's an insurance thing. My insurance doesn't cover shorts unless my cervix actually shortens.

@Mrs. Lion: because I'm on a 90/10 coverage after my deductible is met, so I'm responsible for 10%.

@MarieJ: oh ok, gotcha. I guess we just assumed that we are going to hit our out of pocket maximum so i really havent really asked.

I'm not at this point since even though I had preterm labor last time, I made it to term. They're going to monitor my cervical length throughout the rest of my pregnancy and if it shortens will do progesterone shots.
