Is it just me or has this season been really weird? I feel like I should get high before watching the episode each week!

Seriously. I am going to get flamed for this, but I actually really dislike MM. I watch it because DH likes to and because I feel like it's part of the social norm. But I actively dislike it and the only good thing about watching MM is that DH always insists that we need old fashioneds to really enjoy the experience. Everyone is so depressed and/or depressing and nothing good ever happens. I like Joan and I like the clothes. That's about it.

@septca: I used to love it, but it's been kind of a disappointment this season.

I loved it until this season, this season is boring to me And I feel like it's all over the place! And I need more Joan and more Betty...less Megan! (I just love how much of a biatch Betty is, she's a great character!)

@LuLu Mom: I've read that January Jones is kind of a biatch in real life! I find Megan to be really awkward.

Really weird season, I feel like nothing's happening, but I guess it does capture the era well (not that I would know!) I always disliked Betty, but I was proud of her last episode!

This season is sooooooooooooooooooooo depressing! It's like we are just watching every single character's lives implode. I dislike Megan and wish there was less of her; she just doesn't interest me and I don't believe that she and Don are a match that would have lasted this long.

@lawbee11: I've never cared for Megan, I'm going to guess she dies in the mid-season finale. I think they will do the Charles Manson murders, and she will be a part of it? I don't know, too many references to that for it not to be brought up!

@LuLu Mom: I don't like her either, that's a good thought! That would be a good episode! There are only 2 episodes left though, is that the end of the series?

@LuLu Mom: That's totally what I thought, too, until they introduced a blonde, 8-month pregnant character...

Yeah I'm thinking something creepy is going to happen at the mid season finale.

I'm disapointed in the season. They are stringing us along with nothing happening. Then the season is going to end right whem it finally gets interesting, just because AMC likes to drive us insane. I can't believe they cut the season into two years. Their seasons are too short as it is.

@Grace: I know! I have such a hard time remembering things because there's so much time between seasons. I had to look up Stephanie from Sunday's episode because I couldn't remember exactly what happened with her.

@septca: See that made me even more aligned. Sharon Tate was a blonde that was 8 months along in her pregnancy. The nieces boyfriend is getting out in a month on weed charges who was a musician...Charles Manson was a musician. A lot of correlation!
@KelLeeLeee: I think it will happen in 2 weeks when it's the midway finale.

@LuLu Mom: Exactly! That's exactly what I was trying to say... I had thought that they would kill off Megan a la Sharon Tate, but now I think it will be Stephanie in Megan's house.

I'm really enjoying this season. I feel like now, even more than before, you have to pay very close attention and can't miss a second because EVERYTHING Matthew Weiner puts in each episode is steeped in significance.

@septca: DOH...haha sorry brain is fried today I think Megan will be there too and maybe her friend that she's been so close with. But is that too obvious? Although they've made such a point to say how the house is up in the hills, secluded, Don thought it was dangerous...ect.

@Grace: I agree - I feel totally strung along with not much happening. I love the characters though so I guess it's ok lol.
@LuLu Mom: oooh! I was totally giving upon the Manson thing with Megan but that makes so much more sense with Stephanie!

@heartonastring: so true! I read all sorts of recaps and reviews online to hear the interesting theories.
Also, does anyone read Tom and Lorenzo? I just discovered it last season and love it!

I love this show! I love the AV club reviews personally.
I hate Megan and find her to be such a petulant child at this point. Sally seems more together than Megan!
I never even considered the Stephanie theory. Interesting thought but she's homeless not an actress who is just making it huge? I do think it will play out though...
I find this season tougher to watch because it's way more symbolic and very subtle than other seasons. The late 60s was a crazy time though and I think everyone being out of control is interesting and very representative of heading into the Vietnam era when the country was really ripped apart.
I love Don Draper though. That took balls to do what he did to Cutler and douche bag Lou.

@septca: I'm the same way - I was watching because I felt like I was seriously missing out on something. I dropped out last season though, because I just couldn't pretend to be interested anymore. Plus, I was way too tired of watching EVERYONE cheat on EVERYONE. It was just getting too nasty. And not even that entertaining??!

Did y'all watch last night's finale? I wonder if Megan will be off the show for good now? I liked the episode (I liked last week's episode, too!), but that last scene was so weird. I'm sure it was symbolic of something, but it was just so odd!

@lawbee11: just watched it and I really liked it...but like you thought that last scene was so weird. I loved that Don and Peggy were good again. Loved seeing Peggy with her little neighbor boy. Pete and Roger always crack me up. And I'm so glad to see Megan gone.

Yeah, the last two episodes were much better. I liked how Don called everyone out into the middle of the office. The last scene was weird. For a minute, I thought Don had had a heart attack and this season was a dream.

I was looking for a discussion of this! I agree - weird mid-season finale. ESP last scene - it's obviously symbolic -- makes me wonder if Don is subconsciously realizing he's doing exactly what he was trying to get away from - "selling" himself to McCann...."the best things in life are free" --- but work seems to be all he has. He lost his family, Megan, and almost his beloved work (his greatest love?) - and seemed so triumphant walking down the stairs, but that song with Bert really threw me--- what do you guys make of it??
I feel like Peggy, Campbell, & Roger are all Don has in some ways. The four of them are left with nothing, really, except their work & each other. I think roger is going to be awesome from here on out, same with Peggy. She killed the pitch!
I always over analyze, I think they put so many layers of meaning in. Btw - love how Sally (who is awesome, and she looked like she was turning into her mother) chose the nerd over the jock after talking to her Dad - I thought that was a great scene.
