I'm sorry! That always happens to me too. I have had to wait 2 hours at the OB and the pediatrician (2 times you especially borderline cannot wait) AND the family doc. I have had times where I have gotten dehydrated waiting while pregnant, had to get redressed to use the restroom multiple times, had to be brought water... it is terrible.

@LulaBee: It's not clear. Did you ask 2 people who were sitting with you in the waiting room or did you ask the staff at the front desk?

Oh yeah, I walked out of my six week checkup. I showed up on time and nicely told front desk that I have a little baby at home and if they could please ask the doctor to see me a little sooner. There weren't even that many people, and I reminded them, nicely, a couple more times. After I'd been there two hours, they put me in a waiting room and left me there for another 40 minutes. So I turned around and left.

I knew I had to come back a week later of course, but it was just too much.

Yeah, I don't think I would have just walked out but this just makes me thankful for how easy my OB office is. They are very quick to get us back and in and out. Sorry you had such a difficult experience....sometimes we just need food, haha

I did this once. I'm a bigger person and the waiting room didn't have any chairs I could physically sit in and they had kept me waiting 45 minutes. I was in pain and in tears. I left and found a new doctor because screw that, I'm pregnant. I want to feel like a prority.

There are all kinds of things that push appointments back - especially at an ob office - deliveries, decreased fetal movement etc... and most of the people there probably have babies at home so nobody wants to just sit around in the office. I think mentioning your wait would've been more appropriate and then you wouldn't have had to reschedule.

I never walked out, but when I was pregnant I felt like everyone thought I should just able to spend all of my time at appointments. Even if I had to wait for an hour+. And if I suggested that I needed to be at work, then I got the attitude of "Well this is for the health of your baby, isn't that what's important?"

IDK if it was hormones but I felt totally disrespected as a working and pregnant woman. It was hugely stressful on me and had me in tears sometimes.

@LulaBee: I think it's a good idea for OBs to start providing cookies or treats

I would have been upset, too! Glad they tried to make it right.

I wouldn't have knowing I would have to reschedule for another time anyway but several times I wanted too!

I had to see my reg ob and a specialist during my pregnancy and one time at my specialist I realized they had forgotten me. I waited about 45 mins and I ended up saying something and they admitted they messed up.

It's unfortunate the staff wasn't more communicative. I know how my OB is and I always made an effort to see her as early in the day as possible. It made my appointments much more punctual. And honestly, it's what I aim for in all my medical appointments - early. It means they have less opportunity to get behind.

Call me crazy but I really don't think that a two hour wait is acceptable in any field! I understand that emergencies crop up and running late isn't always preventable but being consistently two hours behind is just poor planning!

That sounds frustrating! I would have been fuming.

i think it was fine to walk out. after waiting that long and 2 non-answers, what are they expecting of you? i switched practices at the beginning of my 2nd trimester because i had had 2 appointments with the previous OB practice where i was waiting for over an hour, and they also f*cked up in getting my harmony results back to me. it was also extremely difficult to talk to someone on the phone. i didn't want to be waiting over an hour each time i went in. with my new practice, i am in and out in under 30 minutes (with my first pregnancy a few years ago, i was living somewhere else and also had an efficiently run OB practice, so i knew that short wait times was possible, and that there was probably a problem with office management).
