right now hubs and i are team green, but if we change our mind, i'd love to do an understated but fun gender reveal party with close friends and family. i know some people think it's over the top, but i think it's so cute. i've spent the last half hour looking through a bunch of pictures on pinterest, and watching videos on youtube. it looks so exciting/fun.

Not technically, but we revealed the gender at my grandfather's 77th birthday party since it'll be his first great-grandchild. My aunt made the cake, so we had the u/s tech write the gender on a card and seal it. We gave her the card and asked her to make his birthday cake red velvet for a girl or blue velvet for a boy, all with white frosting. During the cake cutting, my aunt had my grandpa read a card that explained what was going on, and after blowing out his candles, he got to cut the cake and reveal the gender to everyone.

We didn't do one for LO, but we're thinking about doing one for #2.. probably won't though. I don't think we have the patience for it.

We didn't do one specifically for it, but we have a big Christmas party every year with a bunch of friends and family and we did a reveal then. It worked out really well and people loved it. We did ribbons for everyone to guess and did a cake cutting. A local baker did the cake.

My cousin did. She had the cake done and then they cut it at Thanksgiving, since that was the time frame they were around. It wasn't a specific party for that purpose, but their Thanksgiving dinner was for Thanksgiving, but also so they could announce their gender.

We didnt. I don't see anything wrong with them, but I got pregnant pretty soon after I got married so I had just had the engagement party, shower, and wedding and then a baby shower. I was all partied out.

i don't know that we will, but my neighbors had one with some questionnaires to fill out (for a game with winners later) and yellow cups. they had both moms cut into the cake with blue frosting!

I so wanted to do one with a cake that was colored pink or blue inside!!! But I got too impatient and just announced the gender.

We wanted to, but my SIL's bridal shower ended up being hosted on the same afternoon. We cancelled our party, and told friends/family the gender of our baby over the phone.

I don't think we'd be able to actually get a group together for one. 
When we do find out, we are planning on driving down and surpring Hubs' parents with dinner and a card revealing the name (named after FIL if it's a boy).

I'm not sure if I'd have the patience, plus I'd be afraid of my reaction in front of a bunch of people, haha. Although I have wasted a bunch of time watching gender cake reveal videos on youtube! I'd love to go to a gender reveal party!

We had one for our families, but we found out at the office beforehand. I knew I wouldn't be able to wait all day without knowing. We had a BBQ and our mom's cut a cake to see whether they would have a granddaugther or grandson! We had everyone write down their guesses beforehand on a cute sheet I created and have kept that for her baby book!

I'd love to attend one, but we aren't doing this. We did a lot of major life activities all back to back (bought a house, got married, and got pregnant all within a year), and I didn't want to have to invite people to yet another party.

I love the idea of one, especially with the cake, but I would totally dig into the cake first chance I got because I'm way too impatient. So if I did one, it would probably be just to reveal it to everybody else We're having people over on Labor Day and I thought that would be an adorable and clever time to do it, but unfortunately, I'll only be 18 weeks -- grr, 2 weeks too early! How perfect would that be. Labor Day. hehehe.

I had one! It was so much fun. Everyone loved it. We had about 30 people and a friend helped me to host it.
In my mind, it's way less offensive than a normal boring baby shower. I'm not sure I would do it for the next one, but I'm so glad we did it for this baby (GIRL!)

We had more of a come over for dessert and coffee gender reveal with just immediate family. Everyone work pink or blue depending on their guess and people even surprised us with gifts. It was really fun and we could definitely do it again. Getting to see everyone's reactions when they found out was priceless.
