Any moms live in an apartment? Is it difficult raising a child in an apartment as opposed to a home due to noise and space?

@loveablebee: We got white noise machines for each kids' room, and they have made a world of difference!

I live in an apartment and we have less noise than in the house where my parents live, so not sure if it's reasonable to compare.
The apartment complex has both families and singles in it, not much noise gets through the concrete walls and double paned glass.

We live in an apartment. The only thing that probably sucked for the neighbors was sleep training, but I figure I listen to their horrible music all the time so they can take some crying.
Also we do use a white noise machine (sheep actually).

We live in a townhouse and the street noise is horrible. We have white noise for RJ but when the emergency vehicles go by with their sirens blaring it wakes him up almost every time It was especially awful when he was younger and they ended his naps.
We lived in an apartment before and I couldn't imagine living there with a baby... you can't predict what your neighbors will be like, but ours were super loud (we had to have negotiations with them regarding what times of day they'd play their music) and our hallway ALWAYS smelled of weed 24/7. Also it overlooked some lower income housing so the noise of the kids playing was ridiculous as well. AND we couldn't control the a/c / heat -- it was an HVAC system for the whole building which they'd switch on June 15th and September 15th. So for those 90 degree days pre-June 15th and super cold nights pre-September 15th we were SCREWED!

i live in an apt and i agree with tina. the fact that you can't predict when your neighbor's will be like any given day is the most stressful. if i could, i'd love to live in a place i.e. a home without a shared wall.

Just a little food for thought, we live in a house, but our rear neighbours have a super barky big dog that makes us crazy. It will bark non-stop forever at everything, even if it just sees us through our patio door. So even though your not in an appartment, you still can't pick your neighbours and they might be noisy.
