I've been wearing ill fitting clothes for long enough. I really want some clothing that fits but I'm seriously in no man's land. I'm at the end of regular sized stuff...but maybe I need to just go into the plus size stores? It seems like nothing I try on fits right or is flattering.
I'm at a size 12/14. And I'm tall. If you are similarly sized, where do you shop? Loft and similar places are not working for me right now!

Things fit me differently now, so some of what I had before I was pregnant I can't wear. This is going to sound super strange, but a lot of my tops are too short, even though my chest is the same size again!
As for pants, I find I do best with a curvy fit, so I adore Banana Republic's Jackson fit. I was surprised that Hampton and Sloane also fit really well.
I do a lot of ponte knit, I have skirts and dresses that are really forviging. My last tip is shapewear. If you're not already wearing it, seriously, get some. You will be astonished at what it does for you and you might even get back into some of your older stuff.

I'm not tall like you are, but I'm right around a size 16. I haaate this size, it's sooo hard to find clothes that fit just right. I haven't bought clothes in ages.
I really don't have much advise, I'm just chiming in to say you're not alone with having a hard time finding clothes to fit right.

@MrsBrewer: @DillonLion: I feel y'alls' pain. I'm right at a size 16/18 (was 14 pre-preg) and my hips are wider than before so even though I'm a lower weight, my pants don't fit right. I'm short, but I shop at New York and Co for pants, because they go up to size 18. Plus size stores don't fit me right because I have a small waist, so yeah, it sucks trying to find clothes. I've been buying cheapy shirts at Target to tide me over until I can lose some more weight. Sucks being in the middle!

Gap tall sizes are awesome! 37 inch inseams, and every couple of weeks, they have 30% off online. Also buy things with stretch, materials that have a little spandex or modal. I also layer the old navy tami's under everything, they give me a little more coverage lengthwise.

Ugh, the shirts! I have two shirts I bought this year that fit properly. Otherwise, they're all too short. My wardrobe is so limited now, 15 months after giving birth. I have one pair of jeans and one pair of dress pants that fit well. I have a ton of pants in my closet, just none fit right anymore. I have some shirts and just plan on layering with cardigans now when winter hits.
I think you're right, I think I'm wider now and that is why the shirts don't come down as far and I can't button my cardigans. Also, I hate shopping so that doesn't help.

I'm tall and like Banana and Gap a lot! (Also Loft, though....) I'm at an awkward spot right now where my waist is disproportionally larger than the rest of me. So if I wear a 10, it gives me muffin top, but it fits my butt and legs well. If i wear a 12, it fits my waist but looks so baggy otherwise.
Needless to say, i wear a lot of skirts.

I was 12 preprgnancy, and at almost 6 months pp, I am 16/18. I bought some "women's" jeans at Target that were a huge help. And I finally went to a plus sized store for shirts and it was a revelation. Things actually fit across my bust! My old shirts technically fit, but they are definitely short.

Never say never, but it's been a year and I'm not even close to fitting pre-preg stuff. Not even a little bit.
I second the suggestion about shape ware - I feel a lot better when I'm wearing it, stuff is kinda back where is sorta should be.
I keep thinking I should cave and get new stuff then I second guess myself that I'll be down soon ... and yet, a year later ... *sigh* so frustrating!

I'm similar size (about a 14 but 5'10") I have just found that I have to try everything on. No online shopping any more. I do love gap and BR online for the Tall section though. It gives me that extra inch of length on the shirts that I need and I can wear a large rather then going up to the XL.

Also I agree that most loft stuff sucks. Also what about brands like Eddie Bauer and Lands End that might be more tailered for "women".

I am 16 months postpartum and there are still quite a few pairs of pants waiting for me to be able to fit back into them, sadly. But, I am tall and pear-shaped and a size 8-10 on top/12 bottom and I find that Gap stuff generally fits the best for me.

Prepregnancy I was always perpetually between sizes. I found that skirts and dresses were more forgiving and flexible than pants. Good luck!

I am differently shaped than pre-preg, but I was tall and a 12/14 before baby. Old Navy online sells tall clothes that are inexpensive enough to try and not feel overwhelmed when they don't fit. I also really like The Limited, as their shirts seems to have room for boobs (like, I usually have to size up in dress shirts, these are true to size).

@petunia354: I wear spanx (the kind that go from mid thigh to under my boobs) on the days where I feel like fighting with them (I haaate putting on my spanx), and on days where I don't, I just wear a generic shaper that is basically tight, high-waisted panties. I've seen similar ones at Target.

Uh, yeah. At 8 months pp I finally gave up and bought bigger clothes so I could stop wearing maternity clothes 
I HATE buying new clothes because I have *so* many smaller clothes that are perfectly good, and I do not accept this new size.

oh this makes me so nervous.... I was a 12/14 in bottoms before pregnancy and i really liked the fit of the limited cassidy pants. I used to wear a ton of express jeans. My problem is that i have a full behind and thick thighs but what once was a smaller waist. Most of my shirts were stretchy and long to begin with so i think i'll be ok since i'm still wearing a lot of them at 38 weeks. But i have a feeling i'll never find stylish jeans again that will fit my hips and thighs (i fear they may have expanded during pregnancy along with my belly)

Thank you for the revelation of shirts being too short now - I thought it was just me!!
Now that the seasons are changing I just realized I have nothing to wear. Old Navy is usually my go-to these days because they have some extended sizing.

I have a lot of different shapewear, depends what I am wearing.
I really like tights for the winter that have a control brief. I also like bike shorts, I pretty much always have them on if I am wearing a skirt or a dress.

My prepreg clothes are starting to fit again. Pants fit, but I lost my booty, so my bigger sized shorts/jeans slip down and aren't very flattering anymore.
Shirts are still a little snug since my boobs are bigger and I'm still carrying an extra 10ish pounds.

All over this thread. I'm sporting a lot of my maternity stuff still and a few pieces I gave up and bought. My issue is that my tummy is still so much bigger than the rest of me that if I buy something that fits there, I look like a bag lady because it's so big on the rest of me.
