im at 36 weeks 1 day and my baby has been hanging low this entire pregancy. I have maybe felt him kick me twice in the ribs and thats about it. he litteraly has never creeped up high, sometimes he will reach his foot up but its nothing painful. had an ultrasound yesterday and seh said he was snuggled up down low (perfect position for labor!!) yay.
anyone else have a "low rider" baby?

I'm 21.5 weeks and baby boy is still very low! I kinda want him to move up a bit so that my bump looks more rounded out, but I guess I shouldn't complain, since I'm avoiding potential rib pain! I know there's still plenty of time for him to move/for the bump to change though.

i am super low also! i have never even felt a kick above my belly button and and i am 29 weeks today. it is so weird! people are always commenting on how low i am carrying. i am looking forward to my sono next week to see if he is in the right position!

Yep. Everyone (strangers even) kept saying "oh thats definitely a boy!" Liv stayed super low the entire pregnancy. She wsa also completely transverse until like 38 weeks. I got lucky though, she somehow missed my bladder even with being low. I never had to pee more than normal

@hilsy85: ive heard rib kicks are super painful, esp when you get heartburn and baby is high up ( i have been having super bad heartburn lately and cant imagine how much worse it would be if he was high up!) one thing about him being low though thats not fun is the bladder, i swear he thinks thats his little water bed

@livs mom: oh ya everyone keeps telling me im not gonna make it to my due date bc of how low he is, and literally he cant drop, there is no where to go but out! lol. lucky you on the bladder, im jealous

@stargal: lol, I was lucky that Im so long torsoe-s my bump was small. Even on my due date, I was standing outside the hospital waiting for DH and someone saw me and said "let me guess....7 months?!" I was flattered. Ugh, I DID have heartburn though, but mostly because she'd ocasionally bum-bump my stomach haha!

yup - she's been hanging out as though she's in a hammock the entire time! every ultrasound she's been transverse, and I feel kicks on the left and right - once or twice higher up, but she's always camped out low.

Super low, transverse, just kicks to the side. The highest one I've gotten so far was right next to my belly button. I'm 22 weeks.

@stargal people tell me the exact same thing about not making it to my DD. when I tell them I have 3 months left they can't believe it.
I will be curious to see if low babies are usually transverse at my u/s next thurs!!

Yep! Super low and breech (last time we saw her at 22 weeks . . . although I have an elective u/s tomorrow, so we'll see what she's doing now).
All of the BIG kicks are below my belly button (and I have to pee all.the.time(!)), but I do think occasionally that I feel hands and (sharp!) elbows in my ribcage area (although more toward the bottom).
Most people think I'm due in October . . . I am 28 weeks now and due the first week in September.
p.s. and I *love* the song Low Rider (by War). It's totally in my head now.

@stargal: During my sister's pregnancy she got bruised ribs because the baby kicked so much, and she could feel him curling his toes around her ribs!
Do the mamas with low riders notice any additional aches or pains in the hips?

My hips and legs ache constantly, and it feels like the extra weight and pressure goes straight through my legs and down to my heels . . . they always feel bruised.
@LivsMama: Ditto on the long torso . . . at 28 weeks, that combined with her sitting so low, makes it look like I have half a bump . . . more of a (bunny) slope, actually!

I think the weirdest thing I feel is him burrowing into my far back left side. It is such a weird feeling...I'm like, "Get out of there!"
My money says he is transverse...I have a shorter torso. I am ALL belly.

Yep and since I have a longer torso my bump looks pretty disproportionate because I have a top and bottom bump with a divot in the middle (still have a defined waist most days).

I guess not the entire pregnancy but I normally feel kicks and movement way below my belly button. At my first three ultrasounds, the baby was transverse at the very bottom. The doctor doing the anatomy scan was frustrated how the baby was all curled up at the bottom when there was so much extra room at the top.
But at my last u/s right before 26 weeks, the baby was head down. Some days (like today) there is a lot of kicking up high and I have to pee a lot less so I think that's when the baby gets back into the head down position. It's definitely not very common though.
My low back/tailbone/hips have been really achy lately too. Today they feel fine so I'm also curious if it's related to the baby's position. -
@purrpletulips: I have the same thing!!!! My waist is still very much there--I just want it to all round out.

@Hilsy85: I've found that if I wear loose fitting dresses or full panel pants/skirts it makes me look more pregnant than if I wear the underbelly pants/skirts. In my last pregnancy my belly didn't "round out" until I was about 8m along; I'm hoping this time around it will happen a little sooner.

@purrpletulips: Same here--the full panel stuff smoothes out my bump. I find that the under belly stuff is not nearly as flattering.

@Hilsy85: I'm finding it isn't nearly as comfortable either which is a bummer since that is mostly what I bought when I found out I was pregnant this time because last time it was all that I was comfortable wearing.

Yep! I don't think I ever felt a real rib kick during my entire pregnancy. Baby was nice and low and head down the entire time. I did have a ton of pressure on my bladder throughout the entire 2nd half of my pregnancy though, thanks so baby being so low. I also felt like I was walking around w/ a bowling ball in between my legs. Ah, the joys of pregnancy.

@LivsMama: I'm 25 weeks. They didn't seem concerned last time I was in there, I have another appointment at 27 weeks, so I'll see then if she's moved. I poke and push her around, too, and I can feel her flipping - but she likes to 'settle' transverse. stinker!
ETA - I met DH for lunch today and we were both amazed at how low she was. She has almost up into my ribs for space, yet she was poking around and squirming behind my waistband! I am wearing under-belly maternity shorts, so pretty darn low.
but as long as he is comfy, im happy
