Are these too Christmas-y?

I am doing a mini session with a friend for holiday cards. We're Jewish, but not religious, so I like our cards to be more about the holiday spirit/happy new year, etc. Not Christmas-y. She just sent me some ideas and I LOVE these two, but worry they scream "Merry Christmas!" What do you think? We would not do red pajamas for the 2nd one, so that would at least be less obvious...(ETA for the 2nd one, we would just be doing him in PJS with lights, cookies, and milk, NOT jumping on a bed in the middle of a Christmas tree farm, lol!).

The 1st does scream Christmas

The christmas tree in #1 is very christmas-y...you could do all white lights to make it less "christmas", too...I dunno, hot cocoa would work better than gingerbread cookies. Hot chocolate is more festive, cookies like that are more like christmas cookies i think! cute ideas, though. I really like the idea for #1, though. Damn, i hadn't thought about Christmas cards yet. AHHHHH

I love those pictures, but they are very christmassy to me. For our holiday card pictures, I usually try to make them more fall/winter instead of holiday specific because I like to display the pictures year-round.

Wahhh you guys are all probably right. I am DYING over the little boy in the car though...we have a cozy coupe that LO loves and it is just so cute! @blackbird: I was thinking hot cocoa, with big marshmellows, and choc chip cookies.

@hilsy85: Yes i think that's a lot more neutral! And a more neutral colored pajama (blue?) would REALLY go a long ways.

@Anagram: haha prob because it's a mini Christmas tree I was trying to tell myself it's a New Year's tree (which is what we call our tree every year) but I don't think other ppl will get that...

PJs & gingerbread cookies are not too Christmas-y. PJs& tree lights are unless the colors strongly indicate Hannakuh. Definitely no tree strapped to a baby car.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: well, I don't want it to scream Hanukkah either because we're not religious in any way...if we do lights, we'll do white lights, which seem more New Year's-y to me?

@hilsy85: I love the cozy coupe picture too! haha I wanted to recreate it last year.
What about doing the coupe with presents wrapped on top? I forget, how many days of presents during Hanukkah? Maybe that many # of presents on top of the tree? Or one big wrapped one and the remainder "trailing" behind the coupe?

I personally love the first one, we did this with LO last year (just in our front yard), we didn't use it for our cards though. And unfortunately, it does scream Christmas to me.

Could you consider something more snow-man or snow ball or igloo like to be seasonal?

both very holidayish.
if you want to do something seasonal I would suggest something snow-y. pull inspiration from nature. or perhaps feel more inspired by the New year, festive!

Could you have the session done without props? Maybe cuddle up with some hot cocoa on a pretty blanket? Or just have the shoot on a Christmas tree farm.

@youboots: well, we're in NYC so kind of limited as to where we can go I like the idea of props because that way LO will have something to focus on/play with and stay in one spot, because otherwise he will be ALL over the place.

I think these are less obviously Christmasy. And no snow necessary, since you can't control that. They look wintery and holiday like, but not Christmas in particular.

@hilsy85: Does it really matter what we think if you love them?

I mean, if your family does get a tree (even if you're not Christian), then why shouldn't you take photos with a tree in them?

@youboots: she actually sent me the last one as well! The first one is cute...we have no woods around here, but I guess I could just do a blanket and some cookies. It's just not very fall looking around here yet, so I don't know how seasonal it would look, or if it would just look like a summer camping session!
@lawbee11: no no snow!! At least I HOPE not--that would be insane! Snow in October, bite your tongue

@Anagram: those are so cute! I just worry that without props or something, LO will be IMPOSSIBLE to contain. Im also not going to be in them, so I can't restrain him When we did his 1 year photos outside, he wasn't even walking, and it was still really really hard to get him to look at the camera or get any non blurry shots of him.

These are adorable but they scream Christmas to me.

Since you are in NYC and they typically get snow up there, maybe you could do something cute out in a park with snow and a sled? Maybe you could even find a way to incorporate some white lights too (just need to be close to a power outlet)?

@MaryM: well, because I don't want people to be like. "oh that's weird, I didn't think they celebrated christmas!" Not to mention, I haven't shown any of these to DH yet, and if there's a big christmas-y feeling, he'll veto them. obviously I don't need permission from anyone!

@Mrs.KMM: I should have added in the original post the photos will be done soon! Like in October. So no snow, and the trees will still have leaves.

It doesn't need to be outside either, she has an indoor studio.

Maybe you could bundle up in a holiday feeling blanket or quilt with some cookies and hot chocolate or something?

Or the darker photos with white glowing lights are cute!

@Mrs.KMM: that was what I was thinking originally, just him on a blanket with some cookies and lights behind him. That 2nd one is super cute too! I will have to ask if that's possible to do.

@hilsy85: @Mrs.KMM: You can buy battery-operated or even solar christmas light strings. I know this because I'm a big dorkt hat was in marching band in HS and we put battery operated lights on our drums for night time football games. And I've had solar lights strung up on my balcony.

i didn't get through all the other comments/suggestions, but they do look pretty christmasy to me. what about instead of a christmas tree, you put skis or a sled on the roof of the car? or maybe something snowman themed
