I just finished making 7 dozen m&m cookies...
What are you baking for the holidays?
I'm hoping I can get these done - thinking that it can be easy if I mix up the dough one night and bake them the next. We will see.
I also want to make:
Snicker doodles
Butterfingers cookies (PB cookies with chopped up butterfingers - so good)
Thumbprints
Cream cheese horns - on the fence bc they are a PITA.
Chocolate rollo cookies (think caramel stuffed chocolate cookie. They are amazing)

I looooove baking and always give plates of cookies as gifts. Doing it with a LO is much harder though! I think I might try making and freezing dough first, then baking later.
My list:
Double chocolate chip (DH's fave)
White chocolate chip cranberry
Sugar free peanut butter (for FIL)
Sugar cookies in some form (cut outs, thumbprints, lemon glazed, cinnamon sugar pinwheels)
I usually like to try a new recipe every year too.

I always have grand plans to bake and then I usually get too busy. But I'd like to make chocolate crumb cake, cinnamon bread, tricolor cookies, chocolate chip cookies, etc. DH loves my MIL's peanut butter balls so maybe I should make a competing version?

YES! My parents are in town and my mom and I had a marathon day of baking today! We made 5 different types of cookies: pb/oatmeal/choc chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, molasses cookies, sugar cut-out cookies, and kolaches! We didn't count how many but certainly 20+ dozen. We're going to split them up and freeze them to take to various holiday events over the next month

I wanted to do a Christmas cake and a Christmas pudding but it would only be me eating them since DH isn't a fan and A is too young.... so, I think I'll just make gingerbread on Christmas Eve instead - it's the start of our new Christmas Eve tradition

I have so much baking/candy making to do its silly. One year I college when I was low on funds I made everyone edible gifts and now am expected to every year! On the list this year:
Gingerbread men
Peppermint bark
Gingerbread truffles
Red velvet whoopie pies
Candied orange peels
Homemade spicy hot cocoa mix with homemade marshmallows

This thread is going to kill me, not being able to eat dairy or soy. I tried making a dairy free pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and while it looked okay, the taste was a major fail.
So I'm kind of afraid to attempt Christmas treats = (

Every year I get together with my girl friends to make cookies. We each make a different kind and then swap so we have a variety to bring home.
I haven't figured out what to make this year though!

Oooh, I am going to a cookie exchange party in a couple of weeks but I haven't decided what to make yet. I'm going to subscribe to this thread for ideas. My mom made molasses crinkles over Thanksgiving. Soooo good!

Unlikely...baby is due on the 21st so I probably will have other things on my mind! I'm doing some baking now, though, and freezing the stuff for later (mainly a few types of muffins for us to eat after baby is born, as well as some to bring for the nurses at the hospital...maybe some lactation cookies, too).

I'm going to attempt to make butter cookies like my mom did each year. She just let me borrow her cookie press - which was my grandmother's and looks to be at least 50 years old. It's in the original box and all! I saw a recipe yesterday for York peppermint patties brownies that I may want to attempt as well.

Rolo Cookies
Yield: 3 dozen cookies
Cook Time: 7-10 minutes
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cocoa
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Bag of Rolo candies, unwrapped
Sugar (for rolling the cookie dough balls in)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat. Set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, sift flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa. Set aside.
3. With a mixer, cream butter and sugars together until smooth. Add in eggs, one at a time. Next, add in vanilla extract. Mix until blended.
4. Slowly add flour mixture to sugar mixture and blend well. Take a spoonful of chocolate cookie dough and wrap around one Rolo candy. Make sure Rolo is completely covered with cookie dough. Roll dough ball in sugar and place on prepared baking sheet. Continue until you run out of cookie dough.
5. Bake cookies for 7-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit on cookie sheet for 3-5 minutes. Move to a cooling rack and cool completely.

I do tons of baking! So far I have made and froze oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, sugar cookies, spritz cookies and decorated cutout cookies. I have many more to make still
