We probably won't! He got so many toys, big & small from his birthday party last week, that we're introducing them in phases-- I'll probably get some stocking stuffers, but re-wrap the bday gifts for Christmas this year!

We're thinking a kids size broom and cleaning supplies. He loves the broom at the Conservatory, so I'm thinking that's our gift to him. My parents are getting him food for his play kitchen.

Yes! She does not get many gifts from family, so we have gotten her some clothes, books, and a jumperoo!

My DD will be 11 months at Christmas, so I doubt it. I know she'll get big gifts from her grandparents.

@mrsjyw: I wish I did that last year! J will be two on 12/17
Probably not much and definitely not like last year. We'll do a stocking and we will have a few things but last year I went totally crazy and bought everything I wanted to get for him for both his birthday and Christmas. It was like, present overload!
I ended up keeping half in storage and brought them out slowly throughout the year.
And I'm giving my parents suggestions if they ask what to get him.

We're looking to get him a Pottery Barn Kids chair with his name. That's it from us!

I'll probably get him SOMETHING, but it might just be clothes, haha. We actually don't have a ton of toys for him yet, so maybe I'll splurge and get the Zany Zoo for him. He'll be 10 months.

Yes. Maybe some books and one or two larger things. She really doesn't have a lot of toys. She'll only be 9 months though, so she won't know what's going on.

Probably not anything 'fun'. She's 3 months old...I might pick up some sleepers, or a pacifier clip, or maybe a few sleep sacks. But she won't know, and she'll be spoiled by family anyway.

@Adira: My 10 mo LOVES the Zany Zoo. And they have great resale value.

Last year we really didn't but this year since he is 16 months we got him a couple things. A doll house (kinda young but got a great deal in cl I couldn't pass up.) Play kitchen and dishes and a doll

She's 4 months old so she won't know the difference. I'm going to get her some clothes and wrap them. Someone gave me the my pal Violet at my baby shower. It's been sitting in her closet so I think I am going to wrap it just so there's something else under the tree. Classy, eh?

A play kitchen (already on its way from Wayfair) and maaaaaaybe an Anywhere Chair or similar.

I followed the Want/Need/Wear/Read loosely beacuse she really didn't "need" anything. So she got 2 (okay 3) Wants But htat was because this momma has a shopping/sale problem

We want to make him a play kitchen and then get hims some accessories for it. He also has the LP farm that I got the great deal on and some other LP toys that I used the $10 coupons on. I'm trying not to go overboard!

I don't think we are. I feel like we should being her first Christmas but we just get what we want or need when we want or need vs. really do Christmas gifts. We are traveling so that is a gift for us! I still might come up with something sentimental but mainly it will be traveling and great photos and memories.

@grizz: I love this strategy!
DS's birthday is just 4 days after Christmas, and we will make a bigger deal out if the birthday. His big gift is a bike, that we will give for his birthday.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
We aren't sure how we're going to handle it because we'll be away for both birthday and christmas this year, so anything we do, needs to be packable and ubreakable.
I don't think my son cares one way or another, honestly. He gets new things all year, regardless of occasion. I don't see the point in waiting for one month to buy toys for him.

My DS was a Sept baby - I got him 1 thing to open and then filled his stocking with toys he already owned - haha
Did the same thing the following year at 15 months - he had no clue but all my friends laughed at me
He did get gifts from family and friends though

@Adira: My parents bought it for R for that price at Target too!
We found something super cheap at a consignment sale. Then got two other things. So spending $30 total. I think I am going to skip on the stockings this year.

Yes she will be getting a good amount. We don't buy her many toys throughout the year though, so it's justified.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Definitely! Already got a few and I'm still shopping. She'll be 10 months at Christmas. Mostly toys but some special clothes and maybe some snow gear.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
We're getting her a convertible car seat. Safety first LO, Safety first. Honestly though so got SO MUCH STUFF for her bday (today) and I know our families will spoil her at Christmas too. So the only real gift we got her to put under the tree were some sensory balls. Plus, we are flying to see family so space is an issue.
pear / 1992 posts
Yes, and she just had her first birthday at the beginning of the month!
We're trying to stick to the want/need/wear/read for all of us this year but it's hard! So I might give her a couple things for each category. A couple books for the read (she has no Christmas books yet), a couple sets of PJ's, a tiny reading chair (her main gift from us), and some cool flash cards for play/learning on the go.

DS is only gonig to be 4 months old this Christmas, so it's kind of pointless to buy him presents. DH and I decided we would each buy him a DVD of our favorite Christmas movie growing up and I'm sure he will get a ton of presents from grandparents.

YEP! She is getting a bunch of used toys that we spruced up and a couple of new things I bought for her. I can't wait to help her unwrap her gifts.

Just something small and stocking stuffers. We wanted to get her a play kitchen but I think my in-laws wanted to get it for her instead.
honeydew / 7586 posts
We probably went a little overboard. Oh well!
We got him a zany zoo, Christmas PJs, the a Little Tikes Activity Garden, blocks, stacking rings, a xylophone, and a shape sorter. We also got a teething necklace but gave it to him early.
We might get him some outfits, too.
