DH has been working nights and I've been a big wuss at night. We moved in last week and I'm still getting used to the different sounds! I never felt this way at our apartment!

Not so much in our apartment, because I feel safe with all the close neighbors...but when we move into our house, I think I will be super paranoid.

Not anymore... for the last two years DH works 3 nights a week so I've gotten used to it... if I was in a big house by myself I might be though!! but in our apartment and previous townhouse I never was.
The family I was a live in nanny for had a HUGE house and whenever it was windy the shutters would bang against the house... it was awful!!

I HATE to be alone at night. We have lived in this house since 2010 and I have only spent one night here without hubs and it was horrible.

As absurd as this sounds, this is why I love living in the city. I feel safe knowing we have tons of neighbors.

I don't mind it that much but oddly enough I mind it more now that we have a dog. He doesn't seem to settle in for the night as well if my husband isn't home yet and he will bark when he hears weird sounds. He normally barks very rarely so when he does I get kind of edgy.

Hell yes I am! I usually sleep in the living room when DH is gone. I live in a very safe town and I have many neighbors but I still feel paranoid.

Not really. We live in a pretty safe, well-lit neighborhood that is regularly patrolled, so I'm not too worried.
