Just as the title asks, are you looking forward to the start of the new year?
I have mixed feelings, while I am glad to leave this year behind us, there are some uncertainties ahead in the next year that have me anxious.

We are in a really hard spot right now in our family, so yes, in that regard I'm ready to move forward.

yes!!!
I thought 2016 was going to be a great year and it wasn't so hot - BUT..... I do think 2017 might be!! Things are lining up and I am anxious for the new year to begin!

I am not expecting any changes -- so nothing on the horizon is getting me excited for the year to turnover. Everyone, including LO, gets a year older so that's that. Also I love my class this year so I don't want them to move on. I set up a great family ski trip in the Spring, but I have been there multiple times so really just a big question mark on how I will shake things up to keep things lively and growing around here. Career possibilities are always looming but I like my career comfort zone.

Yes. We had a rough summer (DD had HFM for 2 weeks, then croup and a stubborn infection- I had bronchitis) and DH traveled a lot. Summers here are short just 3 months or so- we missed out on a few things. It was my fist year not shooting weddings so I was really excited.
Also I'm reopening my photography business in 2017 and really excited for that. To see what work looks like without weddings and doing more fine art film gallery work.

I'm pretty happy with life right now, but baby boy will join us early in 2017 so it's hard not to be excited about it! And terrified of adding another kid to our family. So: excitedly terrified?

I cannot wait for March 2017, baby 3 will join our family. I have longed for another baby for quite a while, so I am beyond ready!

2016 has been a rough year for us with my husband's unemployment for about half of it. We've had kid sickness, surgery, appointments, and everything else. I'm ready to be done with this year. Start the year off right, work on losing weight, getting some counseling, etc. Yeah, it's been a tough year I'd like to put in the books.

2016 has been a really tough year, so yes, I'm looking forward to 2017!

I'm not sad to leave this year behind, but I have an overwhelming sense of anxiety about 2017. I'm just really, really scared of the unknown.

For us as a family, things were pretty good in 2016. But as for the rest of the world, 2016 was pretty scary. I agree with @meredithNYC: , I'm extremely apprehensive about 2017.

2016 has sucked for us a family. I am optimistic 2017 will be better and we will have more energy to change things and be much more productive.

Well, 2016 is ending with some weird things happening so I'm not sure I am looking forward to 2017. Other things from 2016 do make me want 2016 to end now, though.

@looch: YES. I feel like 2016 was a hard year for a lot of people for many different reasons. However.....there is one (big) thing I am not looking forward to AT ALL starting in late January >:(

I'm a little nervous about 2017. I'll have the answer to what my family will look like long term. I'm ok with either outcome... not so sure about DH.

2016 was an amazing year!
I'm looking forward to fall into a routine of back to work with 2 kids, 2 paychecks and some vacations as a new family of 4!

Yes! Even though 2017 is going to be crazy, esp with 2 kids!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: It's so crazy.. Sometimes I still remember being on our 2014 due date board talking about having our first!

Yes and no. DS coming Feb so def looking forward to that, but also scared about transition to two kids!! Hoping I'm not just walking around in a fog all of 2017!!

Yes! I have really interesting material to teach for Jan-May, and in May we will be TTC again... so hopeful and excited! I also hope and think and pray that our in-laws will be choosing to move here permanently and stay as our childcare.

That's a definite yes and no
While on the one hand I am glad when this pregnancy is over, the prospect of 4 under 4 including newborn twins is scary.
nectarine / 2994 posts
Yes because baby #3 will be arriving in June and I'm excited for this morning sickness to disappear and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. Also slightly sad though because this is definitely our last baby, so last pregnancy, last birth, last newborn days - makes me want to stretch out time as long as possible.
But I am definitely excited for new 2017 adventures

The second half of this year has been rough, so we are looking forward to the freshness of the new year.

Yes! We are TTC so I'm hoping and praying for a baby by the end of next year. 2016 has been fairly neutral, I hope 2017 will be amazing.

@Synchronicity:
Yes and no. We are expecting our first baby in January so I'm excited about that, but also scared shitless. And then I'm also terrified about the unknown facing our country.
I am looking forward to getting back to doula work a few months after the baby comes though!

Yes...and no. New baby due in February, so I'm obviously excited about that, but I'd be lying if I wasn't afraid of managing two under two! I'm looking forward to another year of maternity leave, especially since my sister will also be on mat leave for most of that time with me. The things I'm not super excited about are living on a drastically reduced salary and solo parenting two kids a good majority of the time (DH works a ton). Overall though, I think it's going to be a good year.

2016 was not too great. I fell and my front teeth flew out of my mouth when DS hit me with his bike from the back earlier in the year. Then I recently fell when ice skating and my back still hurts. DH has trouble with his work and having a hard time finding a new job. This makes me very anxious. DS is fine though, thankfully. I hope things look up in 2017.... so yes I am looking forward to it.

@irene: jeez! I feel like your next year has to be better!!!
For me, yes I am excited. I liked this year because of how much fun 1y-2y is, but I am looking forward to many things in the coming year, from my son starting a Montessori school program to hopefully start growing baby number two!

Peace out 2016, the worst year of my life. Looking forward to a fresh start.

I'm really more looking forward to 2020.
As awful as 2016 was, 2017 is equally terrifying.
nectarine / 2466 posts
We move into our new house in January, so that will be exciting.
New baby in Feb/March. That will be nice, but with 3 under the age of 4, I think it will be challenging.
I have the year off work which will be nice to spend with the girls, but at the same time, our mortgage is basically doubling. I'm a little worried about finances with everything happening together and with myself on maternity leave.
nectarine / 2834 posts
@meredithNYC: I'm trying to look at it as we're that much closer to trump being elected out of office!
Yes! Probably moving back to our hometown and hopefully ttc #3.
pomelo / 5084 posts
@MrsB2012: Yes! How could I forget our new house will be done the first quarter of 2017! So looking forward to that! Congrats on your move!

2016 has been a fantastic year for us so I'm sad to leave it behind. 2017 is the start of our new normal as a family of four - I go back to work in Jan or Feb and things should settle into a routine quickly. We find out in April what school E has a place at..... I'm hoping to get a new job in 2017..... DH is looking at a promotion...... So lots of positive stuff.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
2016 meant a lot of changes... New baby, new city, new house, new job essentially. As much as I have tried to have a positive attitude I don't do well with change. I'm looking forward to 2017 being more familiar.

I am looking forward to 2017. I am loving life with my boys and am thankful for my job. Life is moving so fast that I feel like I do not have time to dwell on the potential negatives that lie ahead. The positives outweigh those negatives.

We'll be living in a new country in 2017, so I'm looking forward to that! Though it's coincidence, I'm happy to be going to a new atmosphere.
pomelo / 5678 posts
Heck yes I am. Rough couple years in there and then this year has been amazing. I am grateful for every moment, and as a wise woman on here once said, I think life gets better with age.
