Family is on my mind with Mother's Day tomorrow. My parents are getting older (aren't we all?), so I've been preparing myself for years for bad news... amazingly though, they are in great health!

I thought I was prepared for the worst but then a few years ago, my dad got really sick. He recovered just before I was about to fly out to say goodbye... and the whole experience made me realize that I wished I had spent more time with him in recent years. It's just been hard visiting since having kids. So I resolved to visit more and we took the two-day journey there last August. The kids had a ball, so we are going again this August!

I thought I had prepared myself, but in retrospect maybe it's not realistic to prepare yourself for the loss of your parents. I'm really so grateful that I got a chance to re-evaluate my priorities, and that Mrs. Bee has helped make these trips possible!

Are (or were) you prepared emotionally for your parents to pass on?
