Most of my friends and my DH's parents are all divorced. My parents divorced when I was 6.
Are yours married or divorced?

Very happily married for 28 years. They are adorable.
In laws are married, too.

Married but not happily. Too taboo to divorce, and they have been together for 40+ years.

My parents have been married for 36 years today! DH and I share an anniversary with them.

Can I vote other? My parents were separated when I was 6, got back together. Had my brother and sister, then got divorced. But now they are currently back together, but they just never remarried (and probably never will)

Married for 34 years, but it was my dad's third marriage, so I have siblings from one of his previous marriages. I guess third time was the charm?

My mom and dad were married for 18 years before they divorced and my dad has been married to his wife for 20 years. My ILs have been married for 43 years.

This year would have been their 40th anniversary, but my dad passed away 5 years ago.
I think they were an amazing example of the fact that happily married =/= fairy tale "happily ever after." That marriage can sometimes take effort and work, but that that's ok.

Divorced when I was ....4? 5?
Dad came back on the scene during last couple years of our high school, I'm probably the only 1/3 of us girls that truly likes him and harbors no grudges.
They are currently living together. (yes, that means mom and dad, but also my two sisters)
My best relationship role models are my favorite Aunt and her husband. The only role models, I think?

Married unhappily for 49 years. I have often fantasized during my life what would have been different if they would have divorced.

@MamaG: My husband's parent's divorced before I met them, but continued trying to make it work "for the kids". Living with them was pretty much hell.
The break up was very bad, but finally it happened when MomIL found a guy. They are BOTH much happier for it, and DadIL now has a wonderful family too. Everybody won.

Divorced! My FIL and MIL were divorced, then remarried 17 years later, then my FIL became a widower shortly after they were remarried.

My parents will celebrate their 45th anniversary in November! They are really really happy too, which is nice.
My ILs have been married 35 years. So we have pretty great examples of functional marriages.
We talk about this a lot actually and we only have one set of friends whose parents are both divorced. Everyone in our circle has parents who are together still... very much a rarity these days, I think!

It seems like most people I know have divorced parents! My mom married two bargain-bin men and divorced them both. My husband had an abusive father and so his parents also divorced when he was little. Sadly neither of us come from happy families but we hope that we can make that for our daughter.

@MrsBrewer: DH's parents are the same way! Married young, divorced after 5 years or so, remarried each other and had kids, divorced again 20 years later... they say this time they're trying to make it work (the divorce), lol.
My parents are still married, 40 years strong.
