Meh. My husband is so practical.

Actually, so am I - it's one of the reasons we get on so well. We did our seriously awesome wedding on a shoe sting - and not because we particularly needed to (DH's parents offered to give us any extra money we needed) but because we enjoyed sticking it to the wedding industry and proving that happily ever after does not have to mean bankruptcy! We chose not to go on honeymoon, opting to buy a house instead. So practical!!

So now we're having a baby! We agreed when we started TTC that we would do the nursery on a budget, buy second hand where possible and not be sucked into believing we need things that we don't. Sounds fair, right?

But.... but.... all the cute stuff!!! Nobody told me how exciting baby shopping would be!! All the gadgets (Nose Frieda anyone? Milkies milk savers!!) and all the cute designs (sleep sheep - aaaw!!!) and I want them, want them, want them!!!!! I want them new and I want them fluffy and I want them perfect!!

I've been researching baby items and I now have a list of everything I think we need for the baby's arrival. And yes - I did get carried away. Yes, I know £50 is a lot of money for a pillow but yes, I do need a boppy.... and no, I won't just use a regular pillow from the bed! I presented my list to my husband last night - and he was less than impressed! Well, he refused to look at it for one!!

In particular, last night, we discussed monitors. My question to DH was: Do we need a video monitor or a movement sensing monitor or both? "Neither" was not one of my options!!! Turns out that DH thinks monitors are a waste of money. Monitors!!! He believes they are just one of the things we are lead to believe we need when we actually don't. Sigh.

So, long story short, I've asked my mum to come shopping with me!!! She will indulge me on my quest for cute baby stuff. Cackle!

Did you have a fight on your hands when you wanted to buy baby things? Or was it the other way around, perhaps?
